Title: The Hypothetical Romance.
Rating: T – Contains content not suitable for children. Slashy, basically.
Pairings: Foreman/Wilson.
Disclaimer: 'House' is not mine. Never was, probably never will be.
A/n: Hey there! This isn't my first House fanfic, but it's the first one I've posted. I used to be a House/Wilson shipper, but for the last week or so I've been in love with the idea of Foreman/Wilson. And I'm determined to make it more popular. As far as I'm aware, there's only one other fic out there that's Foreman/Wilson (woo! Go The Sarcastic Typo! Check out her fic 'Pregnancy Test', because it well and truly rocks!) so I'm hoping to up the numbers a bit. Anyway, this is just a 300-word drabble – and there will be many more 300-word drabbles – as I prepare for a major Foreman/Wilson fic with subplots and everything! Enjoy!
The Hypothetical Romance
"There has to be a reason for it," House said, resting his chin on his cane.
"Yeah, there is," Foreman replied exasperatedly, "How about I'm a neurologist and he's an oncologist."
House crinkled his nose in disbelief, "That explains why you don't spend much time together at work. That doesn't explain why you're so comfortable about it."
Foreman opened his mouth to argue, but House continued.
"Either you really don't like him…or you really do."
He let only a faint grin pass his lips, focusing Foreman's attention on his piercing, curious eyes.
"It could just mean that we are indifferent to each other," Foreman said, returning the stare.
"After your argument over the homeless man-"
"Woman."
"Whatever. My point is that you can't argue with someone like that, over something so personal, and not know enough about each other to be that personal. Wilson told you about his brother, didn't he?"
Foreman's eyelids flickered briefly. This cued House to continue.
"He hadn't even told me until the homeless man-"
"Woman!"
"Whatever! Either you were already in a relationship when the homeless woman was brought in, or that's what sparked it."
House left this comment in the air.
"Hypothetically," Foreman said finally, "if Wilson and I were…an item… would it make any difference? To anything?"
House shrugged, "It shouldn't. If you guys are happy together-"
"Hey, this is still hypothetical!"
"Fine, if you guys are hypothetically happy together, then hypothetically it shouldn't be a problem, but if you were to hypothetically have an argument, or hypothetically get obsessed with each other, then hypothetically I don't want it to interfere with your work."
Foreman's glare softened, "It won't."
"Is this still hypothetical?"
Foreman directed his attention to the floor, putting off the inevitable. Eventually he looked back up, looked intently into House's eyes and said in an undertone, "No."
