Well - its been a long time since I wrote anything. I just had this great image in my head at the end of Phantoms and I had to share it. This is a short tag to Phantoms - so obviously spoilers are included.
As usual - they're not mine, never were, probably never will be. ahh well.
Elizabeth strode in a swift pace towards the infirmary. She carried her data pad in front of her to shield her from any stray enquiries from scientists seeking her approval for different projects. She had always held the opinion that if you carried a clipboard and walked fast then you could get anywhere and people wouldn't bother you. A data pad worked just as well.
Elizabeth had decided to hold the mission debrief in the infirmary, seeing as three out of four members of the team were injured. Teyla had suffered a shot to the leg (not too serious), Rodney a shot to the lower chest (not as serious as it sounded) and Ronan had been grazed on the arm (already back in the training gym). John, surprisingly enough, had managed to come back in one piece.
Rounding the corner into the infirmary entrance, Elizabeth slowed to hear voices coming from behind a curtain shielding the treatment beds from the door.
"Oh, come on Rodney…" Sheppard was saying, "It's not that bad, and besides chicks dig scars"
"I don't want any chicks digging my scars," Rodney said in a frustrated tone, "I want my flawless skin unscarred"
Forcing her smirk into a more genuine smile, Elizabeth stepped around the curtain. Rodney was propped up in bed, pillows behind his back keeping in a comfortable sitting position. The sheets were pulled up to his upper chest so she couldn't see any bandages showing signs of the recent surgery. He looked fine otherwise, aside from a scowl on his face that he was directing at Sheppard, sitting across from him on a chair, feet propped up on another chair. "Rodney, I see you're out of surgery."
"Statement of the bleeding obvious if I ever heard one" Rodney mumbled to himself. Elizabeth raised her eyebrow at him.
"He's just a little grumpy from waking up from the anaesthesia." Sheppard stepped in.
"It could also have something to do with being shot!" Rodney glared.
"He's also a little peeved that he came back injured and I'm fine for once." Sheppard conceded with a smile.
"I hope you run into a door."
"No seriously, this is a great feeling," Sheppard jumped up out of his chair, "I go a whole mission getting shot at, by Ronan no less, everyone else gets injured and I'm fine!"
Elizabeth imagined Sheppard was about to pump his fist in the air and shout 'I Rock!'She almost snorted at the image. Only her diplomatic training kept her from letting out more than a small puff of air.
"Oh... well that's a cushy way to put it… gets injured…" Rodney said, crossing his arms before he winced and uncrossed them, "you were the one doing the injuring"
"I wasn't trying to shoot you, Rodney."
"Yes you were," Rodney protested, 'you looked right at me then shot me in the chest"
"You weren't you at the time," Sheppard sighed, good mood suddenly vanished, "so I don't think it's fair that I be blamed for shooting you"
Elizabeth interjected, "ok shall we start the debrief"
Ok, well that was a litte down at the end - I had intended on humour.
I though it was great that eveyone else on that planet got whumped (with the exception of Beckett - although I maintain that he was emotionally whumped) Give the guy a break every now and then.
Loved the thought of him yelling out "I Rock!"
