Smaller World
Yuu rarely noticed how he held Damemon a little harder than he should, how his partner would always squirm a little before settling in to his hold, how they'd always keep to one part of the house, leaving the rest alone.
Sometimes he did; when he was cleaning, he'd realise the dust was thicker in some parts of the house than in others. Even the tabletop was the same: one half was constantly used; the other simply sat and collected dust. While he was making the bed he'd see the dent in one corner; the untouched sheets in another. When Damemon squealed in pain, he'd loosen his hold a little and note that expression. When Damemon mentioned his fears, he'd automatically let go.
He couldn't help it; he'd lost Damemon once, and he couldn't bear to lose him again. It was automatic, to make sure Damemon was always there, within his hold and not flying away in the wind. He'd already lost him once after all; he couldn't handle the thought of losing him again.
Damemon understood that too. That was why he accepted those sometimes too strong embraces. That's why he didn't comment when they slept in the same spot on the bed every night, sat at the same chair, the same part of the sofa, used the same space on the table – because the world was a lot easier to keep track of when it was smaller, and they could be more at peace, when they were as close to each other as possible.
