Author's Note: Hello everyone! Well I'd like to start off by saying this is a really new way of writing for me, so I'm not too sure if I did it right. Like the description says this story is loosely based off the light novel series "Durarara!". Please, please, please review and or comment! It'd be nice to know if I did this correctly and maybe what I need to do to make it better :)! Thanks, and enjoy!
Prologue-
Sometimes, I wonder why I never did this sooner.
"I'm leaving now! I'll be sure to call you when I get there, okay? Bye..."
But then again, I quickly remember why.
"Wait, sweetie! Here take this...it's not much but you can buy yourself some dinner or whatever you want once you get there. I love you, be safe..."
Her soft words, and the way she always gently kissed my forehead that was reason enough. It was hard to leave her, but I imagine it was even harder for her to watch me go.
Her only son, moving to the big city with some estranged friend he had reconnected with. I know she was scared for me, but I needed this.
I needed to finish off my last year of high school at a much better education facility, and Hyorin Academy was it.
Not only was it listed as on of the best schools in the city, but it also had a diverse background of students.
With a place like this added into my college applications, acceptance would be inevitable.
"Thanks, I will don't worry- I'll be fine, promise..."
Sure, school and all that stuff really is important to me, but there's more to all of this than what it seems.
Secretly, I've been dying to escape this boring town.
It's all I've been thinking about since my long time friend from primary school and his family made the move some few years back.
My life up until now has been painfully, unexciting.
Just a long chain of repeated events, over and over again.
I'd pass the same exact houses everyday to the same old school, see the faces of the same kids I've always known, walk the same path back home, then sit in my room and stare up at the same blue sky.
I thought I was stuck...
"We are now exactly 5 minutes away from the next station..."
That was fast...
Just about the only thing that made the boredom dissipate slightly, was when my old friend and I would chat online.
He'd tell me all sorts of stories about his life in the city, from his new school to recent rumors throughout the city itself; it all was amazing to hear.
I remember not a day went by that we didn't keep in touch, and each day he had something new to inform me.
His life, to me, was something straight-out of a manga or a video game.
Filled with unexpected turns of events, and danger luring around every corner.
Exciting to the very core.
Needless to say, I was jealous.
I jokingly told him that one time, but he must have sensed the reality of it.
It was then that he sent me an invitation that I couldn't refuse.
To join him in the city, and go to the same school.
Like I said, I couldn't refuse.
This is what I needed all along.
Hmmm...maybe I should text him to let him know I'm almost there...
So, here I sit.
On this train, as it glides down the final stretch of rail towards my new home.
I'm not sure what lies ahead for me, but I'm ready for just about anything.
The bright lights of the city against the dark back drop of the night sky are almost calling my name threw the window itself.
I can hear it.
"Okay, we've reached our stop. Everyone exit with caution, and have a pleasant night!"
It's faint...
Dammit...where am I supposed to go...there's so many people...
"Oh, um, officer would you mind helpi-"
...but it's reassuring non-the-less.
"Okay then, never-mind...I'll just stand helplessly over here..."
This is my story, and this is where it begins.
Alone.
