A/N: I've been struck with a massive amount of writer's block recently, so I wrote this piece to hopefully get the creative juices flowing. These prompts were for the Next Gen Fanatics forum for the July 4th prompts. This was written on a whim and without a beta, so don't hesitate to point out any mistakes! (This is also a milestone fanfiction as it's my 75th posted.)
Scorpius feels creepy for noticing that Lily smells nice when he just so happens to be walking down the corridors one particularly mild April afternoon. He catches the faintest whiff of oranges and coconuts, which was most likely the scent of her perfume. Scorpius briefly remembers that the coconut is Lily's fruit. She used to consume it voraciously, as if stopping would mean sudden death. He tries to suppress laughter at the sadly quite hazy memory of Lily nearing tears because there wasn't enough coconut in her meal. A pang of guilt blooms in his chest, because he knows that laughing at Lily's typical child-like enthusiasm isn't something he should be doing since he knows, deep down, that there's more to Lily than her innocent zeal. There was something about her that screamed glamour. She was more than just the only daughter of the Boy-Who-Lived and she was more than capable of dodging the obstacles her background threw at her. She had bright, round eyes that twinkled when she smiled and the lightest of moles that hid right next to her dimples when she grinned.
That little swirl of glamour, that specific little spark that always jumped out at him, was what made Lily so special. He could say that loved her, but he was afraid that the word "love" was too strong. Scorpius had an epiphany surrounding his feelings for Lily a few weeks ago, and he just remembered this fact when he nervously paws at his pocket for an envelope or any small object to grip in desperation. He's not sure why he's so suddenly interested in finding something in any of his pockets because he wants her to made a beeline for him.
"Scorpy~" Lily sing-songs with a devilish grin spread across her pale face. Lily and Scorpius briefly embrace, as they always do.
"Why do you have to call me that?" He asks, cringing.
"Because the faces you make are so cute." Scorpius can't find enough of his wits to fight that logic.
"I should get to class," Scorpius explains casually, secretly overwhelmed by her perfume even though he loved the smell just a bit too much, "I don't want to be late."
"See you later, Scorpius!" Lily says brightly, walking in a different direction. He still has the scent of her orange coconut perfume wafting in his nostrils, and he's okay with that.
