"We fight a lot." a young teenager said. Her long, blonde and green hair blew in the wind, giving off the sent of lilacs, and her purple eyes were cast out towards the ocean.
"You can say that again." a young woman answered. She was far older than the other person, but her voice held the same sound, like a child just discovering life. She was playing with her black hair, braiding it and re-braiding it. Her mask was lifted, sitting on her head, revealing blue eyes. "What are you doing here?"
"Saying sorry."
"Cougar Cub doesn't say sorry."
The young teenager paused, taking in what she had said. "True enough." She eventually responded. "But Ebony Logan does."
They were silent, Ebony watching the young woman with hopeful eyes. They'd been best friends for so long, no where near as close as Ebony and Elizabeth, or Sidney herself with Rori, but they were always there for each other. Wasn't that the whole point of being friends?
"Ebony Logan's an idiot."
Ebony laughed. "Sidney, I really can't blame you for saying that." Sidney nodded back, ridged. She was ready for an attack at any moment, not trusting a girl who was ruled by both demon and animal heritage. There was always a little deeper that you had to dig in order to see what Ebony's true intent was. It seemed as though she was trying to apologize, but anything could happen. "But remember, you're the one who told the whole school about me liking Luke. And for talking about me to Lizie."
"I said I was sorry. And you don't have to worry about Todd. The bad boy's totally into you."
"That's not the point Sid. My trust was broken."
"So was my faith that you can forgive."
"I'm here now."
"Not soon enough."
"You're so much like your mom." Ebony sighed. "You do realize that if she said that every time your dad was late at apologizing, you and Lexi wouldn't exist."
"Irrelevant."
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for being cold and uncaring when you probably needed me most. I'm sorry for letting my loyalty for Lizie, and Kristine, and Ray-Anne, cover up my compassion. I'm sorry for listening to Rage and Rude instead of Wisdom and Happy."
Sidney gave Ebony a shocked glance. That was a true sign that she was being sincere. Ebony never mentioned her mind, and her emotions. It was unheard of, because she did her best to pretend that they didn't exist.
"Are you serious Ebs?"
"As serious as I am when I'm reading Beam and Ray."
"I'm sorry for being a sucky secret keeper, and for forgetting what it means to be a part of the team."
"Titans together?" Ebony opened her arms to Sidney, wishing for the impossible.
"Titans together." Sidney gave in, wrapping her arms around Ebony. Impossible wishes, granted.
