She Is Luna Lovegood
They laughed at her – did they think that she didn't notice?
They called her names – did they think that she didn't understand?
She was nothing but abnormality to them – did they think that she didn't know?
"There she goes, Looney Lovegood." They would say, and everyone would burst into laughter.
No one stood up for her. She pretended that she didn't care. She pretended that she didn't hear their insults. She pretended to be lost in her world.
She knew that people thought that she wasn't fit to attend Hogwarts. And that the Sorting Hat had gone mad when it placed her in Ravenclaw.
"Of course, no one as weird as her could be a Ravenclaw, right?"
"One of the Hat's Looney moments, mate!"
Yes, she heard them all. But she never stood up against them, and she never contradicted them. She could have tried, but she wasn't a fool. They were far too many, and they would just twist her words and laugh at her even more.
She didn't have any friends. The only person who truly cared for her was her father. She knew that people found him weird too, "Like father, like daughter."
At first it used to hurt her, make her feel sad about how her family was the laughing stock in society's eyes. But every time that thought passed her, she remembered her mother's calm and soothing voice.
"Luna, we are different. Every person should be! You are different, sweetheart. You see things which others miss. But don't let them put you down, don't let them hurt you, and don't give them a chance to hold your spirit down! You are different, Luna. Be proud, and be happy."
She thought of her mother's words repeatedly, and it was as if her mother was saying it to her in person. It made her feel loved. It made her think her mother was still looking out for her.
I'm Luna Lovegood, and I'm different. I'm sane, and I'm happy.
AN: Well, here's my first Luna centric fiction. I hope I did an okay job with it.
