The Countdown
THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS
BEN slowly awakes from his bed under the Astronomy Tower. It has been days since any human presence has been spotted, playing the haunted cartridge. He sits up on the sheets of his bed, looking around the room.
THE COUNTDOWN CONTINUES
BEN, having woken up fully, ventures out into the town, where Link is supposed to spend 3 days as a Deku Nut. Oddly, he sees everyone running, screaming. This is not the game he is used to.
THE COUNTDOWN IS FALLING
BEN looks up at the sky, eyes widening in horror at the orange inferno, setting the blue ablaze. The once beautiful world of Majora's Mask is now burning away at his fingertips.
THE COUNTDOWN IS DECREASING
BEN realises that all of his reality is slowly closing in on him. He runs to the bell tower and up to the ground on which Link fights the skull kid. There, in the centre, floating in air, is the Mask.
THE COUNTDOWN IS FAILING
"You…" he mutters. It seems to him like he has not used his voice in years. The Mask floats to his face, under its own will. The sky burns faster.
THE COUNTDOWN IS ENDING
BEN understands. Withdrawing Link's sword from his own belt, he battles the Mask, but it is strong, using many unseen powers, that were not in the game beforehand. There is a glitch in the system, as both BEN's reality and ours are fading into nothingness. But still, he presses on, defending his home from his enemy. Then, he cuts the Mask in two.
THE COUNTDOWN ENDS
A wave of electricity surges from the remains, throwing BEN into a fiery inferno. This is the end, for the enemy of Time. This is the end for BEN, as our own reality collapses around us, and he delves into the darkness of death, one last time.
