Hello there. Currently, I'm trying to revise for my exam but this idea didn't want to get out of my head. So I take some time to write it.

This is about how Law and Doflamingo meet.

For those who read my other story about them (Revenge is the beginning of my nightmare) there is no link between the 2 stories.

Kyôdai (one-shot)

Doflamingo just recovered his kingdom, Dressrosa, and everyone was celebrating. Everyone except him. Why did he get away ? Did Doflamingo caged him too much ? The warlord-now-king didn't know what he did wrong, but his youger brother get away. Law ran away from him.

A few years earlier

"Young lord, you shouldn't get out in such weather dressed like this!" said Vergo, one of his oldest companion.

"No way that I drop my feathered coat. And I want to go search for this treasure the old man talked about at the inn." retorted the bird man before getting out of the room.

At this time, Doflamingo was young. He was around 22 years old but was a famous pirate who had already traveled all over the first part of Grandline. But not in the New World. Not yet. He wasn't ready. At least his crew wasn't.

That's why they came to North Blue. They were trying to find some treasures in order to buy a new ship and maybe hired some mercenaries.

But that day, Doflamingo came across a child that changed his life. The kid was 5, maybe 6, and was alone, almost hidden between two houses. He seemed to have nowhere to go and his clothes were in tatters. But what surprised the pirate the most was the fact that there was no snow around the boy or falling on him. Not at all.

He walked toward the child and ask :

"Hey, kid, what is your name?"

The boy looked at him a few minutes then looked away and sighed :

"What did you want, sir?"

"Just your name to begin with" said Doflamingo with a reassuring smile (or so he hoped).

"Law" the boy answered quietly, his eyes glued to the floor.

"What a strange name you have... Mine is Doflamingo, I'm a... traveler. What did you do here?"

"I wait"

"What for?"

"For someone to give me some work and, in exchange, a place to stay."

Doflamingo was dumbfounded. Not that this kid had to work to survive. He'd seen worse. But for a kid with such gift to be treated like that.

"They fear your power, right?"

Law was taken aback : "How did you know?"

Doflamingo cut a ladder leaning against a nearby wall with his strings.

"Because I'm the same as you : an orphan with an incredible gift."

"You are?" the kid seemed suspicious but curious at the same time.

"Yeah, if you want, I can become your big brother and you'll stay with me forever."

"Really?" asked Law hopefully.

"Yeah. Will you come?"

The boy waited a few minutes, undecided. But why would he stay in a place like this, where no one wanted him?

"I'll come with you, sir."

The bird man then took the boy's hand and walked back to the inn. He was smiling because he found a real treasure : someone just like him. And a new member for his 'family'.

Present time

Now all of this was in the past. Law was 16 and he ran away. And while he was drinking with the rest of his family, Doflamingo couldn't help but wonder what he missed with that kid.
