Comes the Dark

The sky, they say, was full of stars,

And suns whose light could blind.

But now all there is is entropy,

No specks of light to find.

Some worlds survive, but are wastelands,

Some are dust now, gone.

Scattered through the airless void,

Where once their skies all shone.

Collapsed are all the galaxies,

Spirals, discs, them all.

None could bear infinity,

In time they all did fall.

Life now dust within the dark,

Unremembered and unsung.

Some still cling within the dark,

Others to abyss are flung.

So comes Creation's whimper,

From what began with bang.

And time's reapers go on marching,

They sound the death knell's clang.
