Was it worth it?
That seemed to be what they all wondered, what everyone asked when the loss of his power were no longer an issue.
What did they want him to say?
That it wasn't worth it? That he rather have thousands of people die, just so he could keep his power? He did what he had to do, he did what was needed; sacrifice himself, or have thousands of lives on his concious. The lives of the people that he had gained his power to be able to protect.
His power grew because the need to protect and save were so strong in him, he parted from the very same power to fullfill his duty; swinging his sword down, using Mugetsu was the thing he needed to do to protect. He was the one who protected. Selfish thoughts like 'but I'll be weak' never occurred to him. All that mattered was that he protected those that could not stand up to themselves.
Was it worth it?
Maybe. Seeing his sisters, watching their smiles and hearing their laughs, it were definitely worth it. He would go through the gates of hell for them ten times over.
Being attacked and ridiculed by those whose lives he had saved? There was times - when he swung his fist, his foot connecting with someone's stomach, hearing jeers and taunts about his hair - when he thought I parted from Zangetsu for this?
He hadn't decided on whether it was worth it or not. Not completely.
People around him seemed to think that it were merely a farewell of his blade, but they were so wrong. Understanding what Saigo no Getsuga TenshÅ meant had made him a part of the very same blade. They were two as one. Three, if you counted the Hollow. They were one complete being, three minds being one, working for the same goal; protecting.
Using Mugetsu, loosing his powers, meant that he lost a part of himself. A little piece of his soul was ripped away from him. Murder and suicide, he wasn't sure which it was. He felt to have killed the one helping him grow stronger, and at the same time that person was a part of himself, and by using Mugetsu he killed that very part of himself. He killed himself, if so just a little piece.
Was it worth it?
He would probably never know the answer of that. No matter how much he pondered the worth of it, he would never be able to decide on a singular answer.
Did he regret it?
No. Not at all.
It might not be worth it, but there was no regret to have used it.
...
Honestly, I don't know if Ichigo became part of the blade, or just became the Gesuga itself. But, I like to think that he, the Hollow and Zangetsu were one person.
And I hope people get the difference between the worth of it, and if he regretted it ^^
Thanks for reading, and I hope you review :)
