Lend your ear, wanderer, and you'll hear a story of exploration and discovery. Throughout the seas there are many glorious tales starring Mer (sometimes called Mer 2002) the fisherman. Since finding his way to sunny Lumbridge many moons ago he has caught creatures from the sea, mined ore into weapons, and almost learned to cook. Mer is generally a virtuous fisherman despite his lack of fashion sense. He chose to spare the lives of three confused warriors whom he defeated in an ancient tomb. He as listened to the stories of other adventurers, found peace in the music of distant lands, and rose from the grave following some missteps with giant scorpions. There is a good chance he would offer free crayfish to any interested party, by the way.
Pale, blondish, and with few distinguishing characteristics, Mer could be described as forgettable. He is neither of exceptional height or distinguished weight. He is mediocre at just about every task possible, with the exception of fishing at which he is slightly above average. It is unlikely his destiny will intersect with Runescape's greatest soldiers and wisest wizards; he is simply another small fish in a giant ocean. As Mer himself has been known to remark, "Every tiny fish and sea slug plays a role in the giant dance of the sea".
What will the future hold when Mer joins his adventuring companions at the chosen time? Even the wisest sage is unsure. Most likely another legend will be written for the ages!
