Nai opened his eyes, and peered over at Gareki. Okay he's finally asleep. Nai thought to himself as he slipped out of the bedroom. Gareki never let him do anything fun when he was awake, so now he finally got the chance to explore a little.
He shuffled quietly down the dark halls, hoping not to wake anyone up. He wandered aimlessly around the labyrinth of the second ship, until he stumbled across a mysterious red door. A bit frightened, he contemplated whether or not he should open it. It seemed rather ominous and he wasn't sure if it was safe on the other side. Suddenly he heard something walking down the hall headed towards him. He was sure it was one of the rabbits meant to guard these areas. His hand grasped the doorknob, knowing he still had a few minutes to decide whether he wanted to run, or hide in this room. Since he's a rather reckless runner and might run into another one anyway while trying to escape, he chose the latter.
Dashing into the room at full speed in hopes that he wasn't spotted by the usagi, he failed to notice he was plunging himself into a pitch-black room, or the quick creak the door made in response to his incautious handling. After releasing a great sigh of relief at hearing the rabbit pass the doorway, he slowly opened his eyes in realization at his situation. Nai fumbled for a lightswitch and quickly found a strange knob-like thing instead. He fondled it desperately in the hopes of figuring out how it worked. Adding slight pressure and turning the knob clockwise resulted in a dim light filling the room.
Nai turned around and was shocked at what was revealed by the light. The room was full of small plush ducks. It seemed half like a storage closet for adorable toys, and half like a launch pad, for in the center of the room was a large steel duck, with a window in it's chest. Upon closer inspection the inside of this foul contraption withheld only a single object: A chair bolted to the floor, with leather straps hanging off its small frame. What is this? He thought, suddenly having a severe desire to leave this place.
"Oh, look. it seems an unfortunate traveler has wandered into my lair," said a voice penetrating the silent air from an unlit corner. Nai gasped as he stumbled and fell to the ground in shock.
"W-who's there?" he said shakily. Out of the dark emerged a familiar being, but not one he expected to be in a place like this. Hirato came closer to him leaning down so their faces were almost touching.
"I see you've taken interest in my newest invention," he said with a sinister grin, "would you like to be the first to test it out?" He grasped Nai's shoulders and lifted him off the ground. He carried the small boy through the small passage into the duck and set him down in the chair.
"What are you doing?!" Nai exclaimed helplessly while being strapped to the chair.
"Getting you ready for your adventure, of course." he replied while he finished strapping the boy in. He exited the duck and slowly locked the door behind him as Nai let out a slight whimper. He felt a vibration in the ground and the red emergency lights inside the duck turned on.
"Good luck!" Hirato's muffled voice said through the window. Suddenly the large metal duck flew through the ceiling of the airship and Nai lost sight of anything but clouds. He was moving so fast he could barely take in anything he was seeing. Clouds zoomed by and all he could see were stars. Then, everything slowed down and he realized he must be in space now. So this was a spaceship of some sort. It changed direction and hurled him far across the universe, and it would soon arrive at an unknown planet. At this strange coincidence, Nai was about to start his new adventure.
