He was going to die that day. And he wasn't scared of it, he was ready. He would die with honor; letting the Avatar escape and protecting his leader with his closest friend by his side.

Jet died before the Dai Lee could even get to them. Smellerbee cried as they stood, ready to make the final stand of the Freedom Fighters. His hand had never before been so quick and precise, shooting down six agents before they could take more than a step into the room. But then the rocks started flying and it was all the two of them could do to roll with the hits, trying to last long enough to allow the others time to escape. Smellerbee started to tire, every time she was knocked down it was harder to get up and fight. In contrast he was growing more and more ferocious as the battle continued, the amount of Dai Lee was cut in half and he was still going strong.

Then a pillar of stone came from behind and slammed his friend into a wall. She didn't get back up that time. His bow broke after that. Then it was only him and seven brutal Dai Lee agents. He too was in his final moments, ready to die, to join his friends.

But just as he was about to face the end of his life something happened. A power long forgotten sprung forth from him, he stood once again. This time ready to deal judgement instead of receive it. The Dai Lee didn't stand a chance and he was the last one left standing.

With his revenge he was prepared to die again, no reason left to try and live. There was no more life for him, everything he cared about was laying there with him. Rock crashed around him as he stood in the crumbling cavern when a groan came from the young girl.

Smellerbee was alive. He had to get out of there. Grabbing her trembling body and Jet's corpse he faced the ceiling. Power once more flowed through him and blasted the way to the surface of the lake.

As he lay on the sandy shore he'd pulled them to, he could only wonder how he would explain their escape to Smellerbee.

Because nobody could ever know the truth: that Longshot the Freedom Fighter was really Pu Yi the firebender

A/N: I love Longshot and Smellerbee, I wish they would have been more developed in the show but because they weren't it just lets us fill in the blanks. I actullay have a bit of a back story planned out for Longshot and it gets a little bit complicated and I hope it will make sense outside of my head.

Brownie points to whoever knows were the name Pu Yi comes from without looking it up.

Lots-of-Love,

The Captain
