Clears throat Hi I just wanted you to all know that I do not own YYH. None of the characters, none of the ideas from the original manga and or anime. Nothing. One shot.

WHAT IF.

The mid morning sun gentle warms an upstairs room as two intertwined figure lounge lazily in a bed sheets haphazardly covering lower torsos and thighs. Thick blanket pushed to the foot of the bed threaten to fall off in a heap. One is gazing at the ceiling the other one is attentively looking at the first.

"Spill it, Fox."

"Hmm?"

"Nothing."

"I was just thinking."

Getting up on one elbow he stares into beautifully blended sea and sun colored eyes, "I know you were thinking, my question was what are you thinking."

"Hiei," he says in a singsong voice. "What if I wasn't here?"

"Baka, then I would be cleaning my sword instead of answering silly questions." He says quickly flopping back down in his back to study the ceiling that has seem to have captivated the ever changing interests of his Fox. "And me?"

"And me what?"

"What if I wasn't here? What would you be doing Kurama?

"Well I will tell you what I wouldn't be doing, I wouldn't be sweating so dang much. God you're a little heater." he says overly exaggeratingly wiping off his brow. "What if I was still a full yoko?"

"Then I wouldn't be in this ningen filled dumping grounds." "What if I was a human?"

"Then fighting with you would be boring." "What if I was a girl?"

Hiei wrinkles his nose and stares stone faced at Kurama, "What do you mean if?" he says pulling back the cover than feigns shock when he see Kurama's naked form. Kurama yanks the sheets back on him and promptly slaps him.

"Baka, that is so not funny." He exclaims through fits of bubbling giggles.

"What if I was a girl?"

"Then we wouldn't have to flip a coin." "What if I was Botan?"

"What is your thing with being a girl hmmm?" "Ouch," Hiei squeaks rubbing the spot Kurama had just unmercifully pinch and twisted for good measures. "If you were Botan then I would have to have these long pointless talks more often then I already do." "What if I was Yusuke?"

"Then we wouldn't be talking right now. I would be to busy trying to avoid the wrath of Kieko." "Speaking of which what if I was Keiko?"

"Ouch, what?" Rubbing tender spot, "Then I would be on the floor with a huge hand print across my face for attempting to do the things I do with you." He smiles devilishly making the red head blush. "What if I was Yukina," he asks with a serious face.

"If you were Yukina," he smiles and seductively licks his lips. "I would pounce you in a heartbeat deflower you and drink your sweet nectar." "I am just kidding" Kurama squeaks as death and dismemberment dance in the eyes of the man straddling him searching for his sword. " I would never do anything to you I would only protect you." he says with a smile.

"Really?" Hiei asks calming down.

"Yea, rumor has it she has a sword wielding psycho for a brother I am not taking any chances." Kurama laughs only to receive a punch in the chest. "What if I was Kuwabara?" "Wait Hiei." he titters pulling the other back into bed.

"That was not called for. Game over." He says crossing his arms moving as far as he can away from Kurama with out leaving the comforts of the bed. "Fine, what if I was Karusu?"

"You are one sick individual." he shutters.

They both sigh at the same time relaxing deeper into the mattress and into each other.

"Kurama"

"Hmm?" He lazily says

"To answer your question, I would be forever lost because you complete my soul."

Kurama smiles and nuzzles against Hiei neck and whispers, "As would I my love as would I."
