It began not so long ago in a place not so far away. But that's no way to start a good story, now is it? Let's try again, shall we?

As I said, it began not so long ago. That is, it began on the 25th of December, 2012, to be precise. It was also quite close to home for all of us, assuming we are all human here. Even for those on the other side of the planet it is relatively close, considering where the invaders came from.

Ah, here we go. "What invaders?" you may ask. Well, those clever ones out there will have already figured it out, at least a big part of it. Yes, the invaders were aliens from another world, far, far from Earth. But what you can't have possibly guessed is what species of alien they were, for even if you are a member of Torchwood or U.N.I.T, your catalogues of alien species do not expand to cover this particular anomaly.

They originate from a planet on the other end of the galaxy, and found their way here by accident. They're life began as a series of evolutions; nothing unusual there. However, their genes were specifically designed to evolve quite literally overnight. Everyday there was a whole new species created out of what was once one single bacterium. Now, their number has increased and spread across the once-deserted planet, ranging in species from plant life to what you could call animal life; some of it sentient.

But it is not the visible sentient life forms we are concerned with. Rather it is the invisible ones, the microscopic little life forms that the entire planet's plethora of life originated from. But these little buggers are far more advanced in thought than the bacteria and germs we are familiar with. In fact, they match the intelligence of a human being, and in some cases even beyond. They can form entire societies, with the smartest and most evolved at the lead, and never be noticed by any other species.

Now, how they came to Earth is actually quite simple. Well, to some minds. To others it is the most incomprehensible idea ever conceived, and most would refuse to believe it. But what I tell you is the complete truth, with not a detail left out.

You see, there is another intelligent life form, quite human-like in design, apart from his hearts. He is the very last of his kind, and therefore has made it his mission to save others. Now this man, called the Doctor, doesn't live on any particular planet, although he does spend a considerable amount of time on Earth; he lives in a box. Not a cardboard box under a picnic bench, no; a blue box. Some of you may have heard of what they used to call a police box. Much like a telephone box, only to call the police. But this wasn't any old police box. For one thing, it was much, much bigger on the inside; or, if you prefer, it's smaller on the outside. For another, it can travel through time and space. Its name is the TARDIS.

Here is where our story really begins. The Doctor, hearing of this overnight planet, as it was called, decided to visit it out of curiosity. He stayed several days, watching dinosaurs evolve into smaller species as birds grew wings and began to fly. But, as the planet was peaceful, and there was nothing to save, he left, and made his way back to Earth. What he didn't know is that on his tweed jacket there were little hijackers, not visible even to his keen eyes. An entire city now resided in the corner of his left pocket alone, and a whole country could be found covering the rest; and they were all quickly multiplying.
