Corruption
From the moment he fell from your hands
And the moment you snatched up that glittering band of gold
You were lost in the blind fantasies It created for you
Happy as you could be
With your power and the price
Until you felt the other presence
Soft hissing whispers at first
But gradually louder
More insistent
Until he smothered you
Gripped you always
Every breath became a torment
The pain choked and gurgled out of you
You hated him, and It
(somehow one and the same)
But needed them both
Or at least thought so.
Until he became we.
Until It became everything.
