"And if this power source can even power just a portion of the unexplored part of the city..."
Elizabeth tuned Rodney out as she looked across the briefing room table at John Sheppard. He didn't seem to be paying anymore attention to Rodney's ceaseless rambling than she was. She couldn't quite see what he was using his pen and paper for, but she suspected he was doodling.
She knew he wasn't taking notes.
Elizabeth knew she should probably be listening to what Rodney was saying about the power source the Rydans were offering them in trade of medical supplies, but she had heard it all before. Besides that's why Rodney writes detailed scientific mission reports, right? So instead of paying attention in the initial briefing, she can ogle her military commander.
Wait...no that wasn't quite right.
But still, she figured she was entitled to just one session ogling her Colonel. He really was gorgeous, and the contours of his face were so much more interesting than Rodney's monotonous explanation of a power...thingamabob.
She really hasn't been paying attention. At all.
Elizabeth did not usually act like this in mission briefings, but today she couldn't help it. Going to Ryda was Colonel Sheppard's first off-world venture since he had been gravely injured by the natives of a primitive planet two weeks ago.
She just couldn't quit thinking about how close he had come to dying.
So yes, she was entitled to just sit and stare at John one time, and it would only happen just this once, Elizabeth knew. She couldn't handle more than once.
She kept her attraction to him under wraps by not touching or looking at him more than necessary. It generally worked quite well, for she predicted if she extended their contact, she might just end up cornering him in a Puddlejumper one day, jumping him faster than he can explain that that wasn't what the "jumper" part of Puddlejumper was supposed to mean.
But no, Elizabeth Weir, always in control, would never do that. Right now, she was just content to look at his hazel eyes.
Wait a minute...hazel eyes.
Damn. He had caught her staring, and he was staring back, a goofy grin on his face. She smiled back at him and held his stare.
After all, if she was entitled to just one session of ogling her military commander, said military commander was entitled to just one session of ogling his commander.
Really, Elizabeth thinks, entitlements are the greatest invention in the history of mankind.
