Nobody Wins

Disclaimer: I don't own Sky High or any of its characters, and I don't own the song "Nobody Wins"

Summary: Sequel to 'Dear Diary.' Songfic about Zach and Magenta.

Dedication: I usually don't write dedications, and I know that people usually dedicate stories to people close to them, like loved ones or friends. But I'm different, so I'm dedicating this to DR. COFFIN, who (sort of) asked me to write more about ZachMagenta.

Hold your head up high

You're never wrong

Somewhere in the right

You belong

You would rather fight

Than walk away

What a lonely way

To breathe the air

What an unlovely way

To say you care

And now were too far gone

For me to save

And I never thought we'd come to this

Zach and Magenta had been dating since their first year at Sky High. Zach had fallen for Magenta because she was independent, acting like she never needed anybody. Magenta was stubborn and would never back down from any fight, she always had to be right if she had an answer for something, and she would never do anything that was considered cool. At first, Zach had minded her ways; he was pretty easy going and thought these things made her unique. Now, he was losing a hard battle against her.

Maybe there's beauty in goodbye,

(No one's wrong or right, you would rather fight then walk away)

There's just no reason left to try

(Now it's gone too far, look at where we are)

You push me away,

Another black day

Lost count of the reasons to cry

Now look what you've missed

Living like this

Nobody wins

Magenta felt that Zach was too… clingy, always asking her things she automatically said 'no' to, and telling her he didn't either. She felt he had no personality of his own, that he was just living through her, in a weird kind of way. So she pushed him away, trying to make him stand on his own two feet for once. He was dating her, he should've just been happy with that!

Zach felt like Magenta despised him, and pushing him away was her way of telling him to rack off. He sighed. Another morning feeling bad because of her. It was way too hard living like this; maybe breaking it off would make it easier. Then again, maybe it would make things worse.

Searching for the truth

In your eyes

I find myself so lost

I don't recognise

The person now that you

Claim to be

Don't know when to stop

Or where to start

You're just so caught up

In who you are

And now you're far too high

For me to see

And I never thought we'd come to this…

Zach sat at the lunch table, watching Magenta closely. He knew that she wasn't the person he had fallen in love with. He didn't like the cold, quiet person lost in her own world that she had become. He didn't know how to reach out to her, he didn't know how their relationship had come to this.

Maybe there's beauty in goodbye

There's just no reason left to try

You push me away

Another black day

Lost count of the reasons to cry

Now look what you've missed

Living like this

Nobody wins

You

You never say you're sorry

Try to tell me that you love me

But don't

It's too late

To take it there

"Magenta, can I talk to you… alone?" Zach asked. Immediately, the table cleared, leaving them alone. Magenta looked up from her lunch.

"What is it, Zach?" she asked wearily. Zach paused, still unsure that he was doing the right thing.

"I think that we should…" he paused, a little uncomfortably. "end it."

"Why, Zach? I love you. I don't want to!" she cried, pushing herself away from the table and standing up. Zach stood up as well. Why did she have to tell him she loved him now? It was too late for that.

"It's too hard, Magenta. A relationship shouldn't have to be hard work. This one is," he said softly, before leaving Magenta standing alone at the table to face the consequences she had created for herself.
