Again with the writing! Geez I'm going to shoot myself one day… I apologize for crowding some people inboxes… One-shot about Snape
Disclaimer: I solemnly swear, that I do not own Harry Potter.
Severus Snape scowled as he arrived home late one June evening. School was over, and so he had time off. He looked down his rainy and deserted street. There haven't been so many kids out there since he was a kid. But then again, he didn't really know how it was during the school year, since he was at Hogwarts.
But he did know that this neighborhood hadn't been the same since the day she left.
Her sister had gotten married shortly after her, and then her parents had moved into a retirement home. Now, their house was home to a different family. A normal family. An all Muggles family. Still, he could hear her laughter ringing through the streets…
He shook his head and turned the key, entering his dreary house. The drapes hung loose, the tables covered in dust.
Just like old times. He thought with a small smile. He closed the door behind him and walked in, his footsteps echoing against the blank walls. He made his way into the kitchen and filled a kettle with some water. He set it on the stove to boil and made his way upstairs into his bedroom.
Though he had grown up, his bedroom walls were still plastered with posters of the Chudley Cannons. His favorite Quidditch team when he was growing up. The paint was peeling, and the hardwood floors were covered in dust. His eyes scanned the room, taking in his small wooden desk, his quaint bed, and empty closet. His eyes landed on the trunk that had been set down at the foot of his bed, sent ahead by Dumbledore.
He heard the kettle whistling and made his way back down the creaky stairs and into the kitchen,
After he had made his cup of tea, he sat on the old couch in the living room and stared out the window.
Hours passed, and Snape did not move. Until finally, the sky had grown dark, the rain cleared, and the moon came out from behind the clouds.
He stood up and opened the front door and stepped into the cool summer night.
He walked quickly, down the long narrow road, coming to a stop at the park. He watched the swings creak in the wind.
"Lily, don't do it!" shrieked the elder of the two.
Lily jumped off the swing and soared into the air. She stayed there for too long, and landed too lightly.
Then she made a flower open and close its petals.
"Stop it!" Her sister shrieked.
Lily closed her hand on the blossom and threw it back on the ground
"How do you do it?" Her sister asked.
"It's obvious, isn't it?" I asked, coming out of my hiding place.
"What is?" Lily asked turning to me.
"You're… You're a witch."
Snape shook his head. Her laughter no longer echoed in these streets…
Even after she had found out she was a witch, and gone to Hogwarts. In the summer, she'd always be outside, laughing and playing. Even when her sister wouldn't join her.
Lily Evans would find a way to have fun.
Since she left, this neighborhood had changed.
Snape recalled the Christmas after she had been murdered. The neighbors had noticed her absence at her parents dinner. Her sister had shown up, with two little boys. One laughing and hitting the other with his rattle. The second boy had been crying. Her husband had laughed loudly, saying "Kids…"
Then the neighbors had asked Snape about her.
"You two were friends, weren't you? Where did our dear Lily go?"
Snape had apologized, and closed the door in their faces. Refusing to tell them the answer.
Lily Evans had left Spinners End. And she was never coming back.
Kind of sad… Kind of weird. Please review?
