Kessel Spice Mines
Kord's vision blurred. He had hardly drinking anything for the past five days. It was his punishment for beating his slave driver into a coma. Kord had two weeks with just enough food and water to survive, he has to spend his one hour of sleep each night in the bottom of slavers house sewage tank, and get flogged every morning until he'd pass out. The tattered strips of cloth that were once his clothes, were now so caked with blood, sweat, and dirt that they stuck to his bod like glue.
Kord barely could grip the survo-drill, but knew if he dropped it then his punishment would be extended two more weeks, unless of course, he died before it ended. Furry built up in him. He wasn't about to let these slavers win. Ever since he found himself on this forsaken planet, hed been searching for a way off. The only problem is he would need the help of the other slaves. It was very unlikely to happen because of his scheme to break into the wardens office lst the entire camp food for a week. "Nobody no this damn rock gives a shit about me. When I get off, I'm going to let them all rot," Kord thought to himself as he mindlessly drilled.
Kord hated most things, most people and most of life. Ever since pirates killed his family and sold him into slavery, Kord's heart hardened. He did not work well with others, making his escape plan even harder. The only thing keeping him going was his rage and his desire for freedom. His only other option for freedom was to be bought by other slavers and escape during the transfer. That was never going to happen, because the slavers only offered the most attractive girls and strangest men so then they could go and buy ten more slave to take their place. Kord was neither attractive or the extremely strong.
From where he was standing, he saw a peculiar ship come into the landing bay. It was armed to the teeth and heavily armored. Most ships that came by were either transports full of fresh slaves or luxury ships of the owner of huge operations that were done with slave labor, not what appears to be a mercenary.
Kord went back to his drilling. He just focused on his hate. He looked up and noticed something strange. All the overseers had been called up to the main complex that overlooked the mining operation. The other slaves started to put down their survo-drills as they began to notice. Something was not right. This had never happened before. "This may be my chance, " Kord thought, and just as the thought dawned on him, the complexes west tower blew up. The ground shook, then the rest of the complex started to erupt in fire and smoke. The mercenary's ship left the hanger and opened fire on the burning complex. Soon after it blasted off into space.
Kord stood in the field staring at the plumes of black smoke coming from the complex. Another slaved walked next to him and said, "We're free. We are finally free."
