Magical Chairs
( and we all sit down when the magic begins .. )
The seats were hard and cold and yet unusually comfortable. They held a sense of magic within them that had everyone a little confused and a little happier than usual. The tables were just as magical as the seats. They were tall and sturdy and held many memories along with marker and pen marks.
It was a favorite place for the children and would be until they left and made their next step on the journey every child makes. But for now, it would remain their favorite place and many more memories would be made in those magical seats that sat comfortably at those amazing tables.

He sits in his normal spot and glance around, looking for familiar faces and friends. Two others sit beside him immediately. Another stands a ways off, wondering where to sit today. That one is a little more popular since he's in a grade higher than the others, but he still eventually makes his way over and sits, cracking a grin.
It's just like every day: Sora and Riku and Roxas and Naminé. Naminé is Roxas' cousin so she sits with them every day. It doesn't matter anymore that she's the only girl because now they're all friends. It's an ordinary, everyday thing now and they wouldn't change a thing about it.
Until, suddenly, there's a new kid.
A new girl, to be exact. Apparently, she's in kindergarten like the rest of them ( except Riku, of course .. ) She sits by herself and doesn't speak and takes her lunch out of brown paper bags and reads picture books and she's wonderful in Sora's eyes. He wants to be friends but Roxas has just started an interesting conversation about a worm he found in his garden so Sora is torn in two. He decides to stay and talk to his friend because that's what they are – friends.
When he looks up again, she's gone, hidden behind a terrifying tower of teachers and 'upperclassmen'. ( those fifth graders sure are scary .. )
So he waits until the next day to talk to her but then it's Saturday, so he doesn't see her and the next day is Sunday and he can't stop thinking about his paper bag princess. It's finally Monday and he gets to talk to her. But first it's mathematics and reading and that P.E. class that takes his breath away because the teachers make him do lots of jumping jacks.
When lunch comes around he bounds over to his normal table and sits down and Roxas sits down and Naminé sits down and Riku makes his way over. And then she sits down. At the table across the room. "Be right back!" He announces in his high pitch voice before launching himself from his seat and starting the terrifying journey across the unknown. That's what they call the cafeteria because it's so big.
(Riku doesn't think so because he sat on the other side last year so he knows the whole room like the back of his hand .. )
It's a horribly long journey that's making him wish he'd brought along his juice box so he'd have some company .. and something to drink. But it's suddenly worth it when he sees her table and then he sees her and then he doesn't. His view is blocked by a big scary grown-up teacher. She says "You know you're not supposed to leave your table." But thankfully she's talking to the kid standing behind him.
So he hurries along and he reaches her table and lets out a breath because he's there. He walks down the aisle to her seat and plops himself down beside her. "Hi, I'm Sora!" And he smiles at her and she smiles back with that pretty smile of hers. "Let's be friends!"
And she says 'okay' and introduces herself and they make the journey back to his table together and suddenly it's not Sora, Riku, Roxas, Naminé, but it's Sora, Kairi, Riku, Roxas, Naminé and the table seems to have a lot more magic to it.
