I went for a run today. The first run in many days. I needed to clear my mind. My life had gone upside down all in one day. I ran the first couple blocks, not stopping. Of course right when I started to clear my head, the rain came pouring down. I didn't stop. I ran and ran till I got to his house. The boy who broke my heart, just a couple days earlier. I stopped. I looked over to where his window was, I burst into tears. The rain was coming down harder. Life just seemed to never end.
Flashback
It was my birthday. It was the best of many. I just turned 16. Everything was great. The only thing missing was my boyfriend. I looked all over for him; and when I finally found him he wasn't alone. He was with my best friend; Kristin Gregory.
"What the hell!!!?" I screamed. The two drunks [my boyfriend and my best friend.
"Massie, It's not what it looks like" Derek said panicking. I stood there speechless, till she spoke.
"We didn't mean to; we can't help it" I looked over the blond who was trying to beg for our friendship back.
"How could you guys do this to me. You're supposed to be my best friend and you're supposed to be my boyfriend" I tried to hold the tears back but, it was just too hard.
"Massie, I'm so sorry" Kristin started to cry too. I tried to walk away, but Derek's grip was to strong.
"I didn't mean for it to happen. I don't love her; I love you" Derek tried to say. I finally built up enough strength a pulled away. I ran, I ran to the cabana. I let me tears go, till my best friend; his best friend; our best friend came up to the door and knocked. It was Cam; My good friend, who always knew how to bring me back. I opened the door and he could tell I didn't want to talk so he just held me telling me "It all going to be good again". I guess Sixteen isn't so sweet.
End of Flashback
That was just three days ago. That was the same night, my dad left…forever. Now I have no money, no father, no Kristin, and no boyfriend. The tears finally stopped. He saw me. I swear he did. All the feelings I thought I just got rid of came running back. I tried to wipe the tears away, again. It didn't help. He opened the door and ran out in the rain and held me; which made the tears become hotter and faster.
"I'm so sorry" He hugged me tighter. I sobbed harder. He just held me; nothing getting in the way.
"Massie, I love you" I cried harder this time.
"Derek if you really do, you wouldn't have done this" Derek just looked down at my teary eyes. He got on one knee.
"I was meaning to ask you the night of your party, but…Will you marry me?" I guess he really did care. I started to cry again, the tears only stopped for a second. I lifted him up buy the collar of his shirt and kissed him; a kiss that means more than you could ever imagine.
"I'll take that as a yes" Derek said as he smiled into my hair. The rain finally stopped and the sun came out. I guess this could be a happy ending.
