A/N: Hi guys! I know I'm back kind of soon, but I've got my Once Upon A Time one-shot. Well it's kind of gonna be a two-shot, separated. This is my entry and contribution to Tumblr's "Rumbelle War." I'm gonna probably write more one-shots for now, but I am working on "May It Continue". I'd like a beta however, for "A Fiddle and a Heart." For anyone who wants to beta the cute little pairing that is Pike/Lilly. Anyway, nothing belongs to me. At all. I'm just playing in this world. I feel like the reason Belle is in the Ward is because she remembers. This is my take on it.

Gold and Roses

By Blazing Brightheart

Strands of gold and rose petals, that's what she remembers. Despite the dark cell and the consistent silence, the show put on behind her eyelids reminds her of happier time. She dreams, every night she does, and they come in sharp colors and blinding brightness.

"Maybe you just want to learn the monster's weaknesses."

She remembers a pair of haunted and tortured eyes that hold so much more than he let on. Those were the eyes of one she loved so much. She still loves him, in her honest opinion, but things are darker now. His anger was her heart's downfall.

"You're not a monster."

She had responded to him. Of course he wasn't a monster. Curse her for seeing the good in people, but in him, it was different. She felt like he was more just misunderstood. She wonders why of anything, she would remember roses. All she remembers was a simple moment, one that felt light as a feather, as he handed her that blood red rose.

"Any curse can be broken!"

As if it would matter, the whole curse thing. He'd shut her out and rejected her the moment she'd kissed him. Unlike what he would say, she knew he felt something, he'd loved her as much as she loved him. Maybe he was scared, she didn't know for sure. She did know that he'd broken her heart, leaving it shattered in her chest.

"Because no one could ever love me!"

Maybe he had been defending himself. He had walls that while she was there, slowly came down. She knows now that he didn't want to lose his power, but still hoping in her heart he'd changed his mind, she waited. When he didn't come around, she left, angry and heartbroken. Now she thinks that she would have never asked him to abandon his power.

"All you'll have is an empty heart and a chipped cup."

Her mind floats, gold and rose petals a major part of her dreams. She needed to keep those memories, never let them be shut up. When she closes her eyes again, those eyes are back, and her dreams repeat again.

"I will go with you, forever."

A/N: I'm so sorry if I didn't really do this right. I get it more from Gold's perspective, not as much Belle's. Weirdly enough. Anywho, no flames please, feedback appreciated, constructive criticism pm. I'm willing to rewrite eventually. I just need the time.
