Grin
Most people would describe Axel's behavior as 'obsessive' or 'creepy'. Some would go so far as to call him crazy and try to lock him up. But that wasn't the case. He wasn't obsessive or creepy, and he certainly wasn't crazy! He was just totally and completely in love with his lover, Roxas Strife.
Yes, the Roxas Strife, singer/songwriter extraordinaire, with the highest rates for audiences, both live and on TV, one of those TV concerts being right now.
Of course Axel was watching the concert, but from his apartment. If it was up to him, he'd be in the audience for all of his concerts, but said that he didn't want Axel to be seen. He wanted their love to remain a secret between the two of them, and no one else. So Axel was content with watching and recording the singer's live performances.
He also subscribed to every shitty magazine and scoured fanzine for news on Roxas and when he would be in this area again. Although, any old fangirl/boy could do that, which is why he had his personal collection.
He collected things from Roxas when he was sleeping after sex - hair, nail clippings, magazine clippings, T-shirts that smelled like him, etc. Axel's prized possession was a knotted condom from one of the few times Roxas topped.
Their so-called romance was bittersweet. Axel was just a body for Roxas in a hotel room. It wouldn't be surprising if the singer had other 'lovers'. However, Axel was convinced that he was the only one that Roxas would yell and scream and pledge his love to.
Armed with that knowledge and a few objects from his small shrine to the music God, Axel sits down in front of the TV to watch Roxas' live concert.
"If you smile in the next five minutes," he pretends to whisper to Roxas, although he is completely alone, "It means you're thinking of me. If you grin, it means you truly love me and will come back to me forever."
With unblinking eyes, Axel watches the TV, his face buried in a now-scentless T-shirt.
He watches and waits for the grin that doesn't show up.
