Despite the fact they were fraternal twins, there were many differences between Leo and Luna. Leo is the first born, having a more lively outlook at life, while Luna is more calm, collected but most frail of the two. Leo always has to act confident around anyone so thety wouldn't see him as weak, while Luna is thought to be the wisest of the twins. Sometimes it was easier to be either ignorant of the troubles of the world while it was easier to be educated of what the Earth had to offer them.
At first it had been obvious who had the mark of the Signer, the birthmark that is a key to summoning the Crimson Dragon, an embodiment of the red star, Leo felt his sister's fear right from the beginning. When she went to the Duel Spirit dimension, Luna had to forsake her promise to protect the creatures in that realm from overwhelming feelings of fear and pressure, but after seeing what had become of that very world, she did all she could to keep her promise, with Leo by her side. The Claw Birthmark was what made her identity stand out from just being a twin, but Leo isn't sure what his reason for existence is now.
As twins, they struggle to find their own reason for existence, straying from just being twins with similar appearances and similar goals. Leo wanted to become a great duelist and while Luna wanted to help Yusei and the other Signers in the quest to find the deep connection between them and the Dark Signers. It was true, they were twins, but along the way, they would create their own separate identities.
