Samara. Her fingers and toes hurt from climbing the well walls. But she was happy. Aiden was Aiden again, Samara was finally banished to the well forever, and the tapes were destroyed. Aiden hugged her and she was then blindly aware that he had been calling her name.
"Rachel! Rachel! Are you alright? What happened," Aiden cried, "Is the girl coming back?"
"No, honey, she's not," Rachel replied in a strained voice.
Aiden sighed a sigh of relief, and then plodded away to his bedroom. Rachel sat in the living room for quite some time, then finally getting up and beginning dinner for her and Aiden. She then was interrupted by memories of Noah. It was odd, the way she remembered him at such inopportune moments. In her daydreaming she forgot that she was boiling water, and it boiled its way over the pot.
"Shit," she yelled in anger, then quickly shut her mouth so Aiden wouldn't hear.
"Rachel?" Aiden piped up from the doorway.
"Oh, honey, I didn't know you were there," Rachel stumbled through her parenting, like usual, "Dinners almost ready, it'll just be a few."
"Okay, I'll just be upstairs," Aiden walked away, leaving Rachel in her thoughts.
Rachel was just setting dinner on the table when she heard Aiden yelling for her. Rachel ran upstairs and nearly fell back down when she saw what was bothering Aiden. From the small TV in his room, Samara, Anna, and Richard Morgan all appeared, anger twisting their deceased faces. They were slowly walking towards Rachel and Aiden on the screen, Samara holding the hands of her parents. They were getting closer and then Richard pulled himself through, helped Anna and Samara through, and together they stood to face Rachel, who held an almost hysterical Aiden in her arms.
"What do you want?" seethed Rachel through gritted teeth.
Anna stepped forward. "All I ever wanted was Samara, a daughter to love. But she was evil! Corrupted by Evelyn's attempt to kill her as a baby, she destroyed me and Richard's life to no end. So we ended our lives ourselves, after ending hers," Anna glowered at Samara, who glared back.
Anna sank into tears and pain, and Richard put his arms around her and spoke for the first time.
"I tried to tell Anna it wasn't a good idea. But, no offense dear, she didn't listen. So here we are, doing the only good thing we have done for our daughter since we got her. We are giving her what she wants."
"And that is what?" Rachel inquired.
"You," Samara hissed.
