He never thought it could happen, not in a lifetime. She creeped him out, staring at him longingly, but when she opened her mouth to sing, it transported him to another time and place.
But here he was, singing "Don't Stop Believin'", feeling the chemistry between them. It was like fireworks, a great explosion of emotion at moments like this. He felt happy, at peace. They reached for each other's hands, and circled around each other. He knew there was something there. Something he had never felt with…
Quinn. Oh god, she would murder both him and Rachel if she saw the expression on his face. Sometimes he felt like she didn't want him to be happy, that she put him in a cage. He did love her, but it was very different from what he was feeling now.
But he couldn't abandon her, not with his baby. That would just be wrong on so many levels.
The New Directions finished the song, with applause from Mr. Schue.
"Great, guys! I didn't know you were even capable of that!"
Finn felt genuinely happy. That is, until the glee club went back to the choir room to change out of their costumes. There, waiting for him outside the choir room door, was Quinn. And she did not look happy. He changed as fast as he could, waited until everyone left the room, and ran over to her.
"So I see you joined the Glee Club." Quinn said nonchalantly. "Are you trying to get us killed?" she then whispered fiercely.
"No, I just….uhh…"
"Look, though I have no idea why you would want to join, I have some rules to lay down if you want to stay with me. First, no flirty duets with the hobbit. I'm your girlfriend. Second-"
"Look Quinn, I know you're carrying my baby and all, but-" Finn was cut off by Quinn.
"No buts! I…just…I want our baby to grow up right, and…" Quinn started crying. Finn couldn't help but feel bad for her. He hugged her, holding her tight. But he couldn't be the baby's daddy, they never…
And that's when it hit him, like a slushie in the face.
"You know, I've noticed, you've been staying close to Puckerman for the past week." He said in her ear. She stiffened against him. He pulled away, realizing that he just struck something.
"There's nothing…going on…between…Puck…and me…" she mumbled, eyes looking down at Finn's shoes.
"Quinn. Look me in the eyes and tell me that again, please." Finn finally smartened up. Quinn slowly raised her head and met Finn's eyes.
"There's…n-n-nothing…" and that's when the truth was confirmed.
"I never thought you would do that to me. I stayed faithful to you, and look what you did to me!" Finn glared at her.
"Well, I thought you were cheating on me with Rachel! You two always seem to be together, coincidentally…" Quinn glared back.
"Well you know what?" Finn leaned in closer to Quinn. "Because you did this to me, I'm letting you go, and I now have the freedom to go date Rachel if I want, and it isn't going to be behind your back."
"Fine! Just fine! It'll be good for both of us. Puck can care for me better than you can, anyways." She turned on her heel and stormed down the hallway.
What have I done? I gave up my cheerleader girlfriend, and now my popularity! For Rachel!
But hey, he was a free man. Well, teen. And now, he can go and find his happiness.
Rachel, here I come, he thought and smiled.
