"There's a 73 percent chance they have fleas and worms and a 90 percent chance they have ear mites," Inui stated, examining the box of mewing creatures.
"Fsshh, they're kittens! Of course they have ear mites!" Kaidoh growled, setting the box down in a corner of the kitchen
"If you knew that then why did you bring them home?" Inui asked.
Scowling, Kaidoh filled up a bowl of milk for the five little fur balls. "I couldn't leave them, they would have died." Kaidoh cradled one of the smaller kittens in his hand and sat down on the floor, using an eye dropper to feed it milk while its brothers and sisters crowded around the bowl.
Inui watched the expression on Kaidoh's face soften into a smile as he fed the tiny thing in his hands. One of the bigger kittens finished its meal and padded over to rub against the data collector's leg. Shaking his head, he picked it up and sat down beside his boyfriend. The kitten started jumping around on his lap and nuzzling Inui's hand with its fuzzy head. Smiling, Inui lifted his hand to pet it and winced as sharp neddles pierced his skin.
"Kaoru, I think perhaps we should have their claws trimmed when we take them to the vet tomorrow," he said, trying to remove his hand from the kitten's grasp.
Kaidoh chuckled. "Fsshh, baka."
