Pansy held her hand over her mouth to hide her giggling as she left the study where her mother began to count. When she'd gone two doors down the corridor she slipped her shoes off so her socks would help keep her quiet. Her father would no doubt scold her later for leaving her shoes around, but right now her mother was the priority.

Parkinson Manor was silent as usual, which made Pansy's task of hiding that much more difficult. Nevertheless, once she'd climbed the stairs to the third floor, Pansy giggled in delight as she ran through the winding halls and corridors of her home. Her father complained of her long untidy hair on a near daily basis, but for now she was allowed to grow it long, and it whipped out behind her as she sprinted.

In one of the lesser used studies, where Pansy was planning to hide in one of the cupboard once she'd moved the books behind the door, she stumbled across two House Elves dusting. They immediately bowed to her, deep and slow, before resuming their duties. Her father had forbidden them to lie or hide knowledge from her parents, so hiding here would be pointless.

Instead, she made the quick decision to run to a guestroom back on the second floor. It was decorated orange and gold, and had the prettiest glass doorway leading to a private balcony looking out over a lily pond. Hiding under the bed there, behind the boxes of old clothing, Pansy would be well-hidden, if not struggling to breathe as she'd discovered after a few seconds. Her father would be angry when he saw the dust she'd collected from climbing under there, but she would worry about that later.

Her final resort was to head to the library off of the house's main hall, but there was an echo of her mother's voice floating through the halls; Pansy! Ready or not, her I come! But I'm not ready! No, mama! She would have to make do with the next door she found; it was another guest bedroom. This was decked in dark greys and greens, and had the thickest curtains Pansy had ever seen. She quickly moved to stand behind them and relaxed against the window behind her, with the thick curling and deep length of the fabric ensured she was hidden. Her father would see her straight away if he came home now, the window faced the main drive and she was wearing her favourite bright yellow dress, and he would no doubt be displeased of the games she and her mother favoured.

Pansy dozed off as the house resumed its usual stillness, she couldn't even hear her mother moving about. But she must've made some sort of noise (no, she wasn't snoring!) as suddenly the drapes were pulled back and her mother stood triumphant. Before Pansy could blink, her mother pulled a deep blue knitted jumper over her head, and Pansy cried out in annoyance as she worked to fit her arms through the jumper correctly. Her father would frown if he saw her making such a fuss of his mother's knitting, but she didn't care.

The wool she used was very uncomfortable, Pansy didn't care that it was expensive and could turn invisible. It was an itchy and scratchy, and Pansy had more important things on her mind (like dressing up House Elves and playing with her miniature unicorn collection) than impressing her strict old bat of a grandmother. Her father would likely agree, but he'd never admit it.
