Taking the concept of Last Child of Krypton. Mare of Steel takes the series a different direction where one of the main characters had the powers of Superman.

Chapter I: Secret Origin

Ever since she was a filly Fluttershy had these strange powers. I don't mean powers like walk on clouds and other things Pegasus do, I mean hear things far away or see right through a door, and lift things that are 10 times bigger than her. Her parents, Posey and Sunburst, were shocked and surprised to see their daughter doing things like this.

They could never find the reason but they knew that something special was in store for this. Whenever Fluttershy showed her powers in public, other ponies where scared and rejected her. Because of that she became shy around them whenever she talks to anypony. After helping some scared animals from a weird rainbow light, she got her cutie mark and that was when she decided to use her powers to help and save not just animals but anypony.

So she became Superpony, The Mare of Steel.
