--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Standing near the front of the Airship, Cloud was alone, as everyone had gone to bed. Watching the world from the air, he was fighting his motion sickness, but it was getting better the longer he was on the Highwind.
He felt so bad though, heck, he felt jumping of the airship and just end it all. But he couldn't, the world needed to be saved, but not for the world and the people upon it, no, Cloud wanted to do it for her, for Aeris.
Flashback
Hey, Cloud. Did you see the Airship at Junon?
"...I heard it was big, but I didn't expect it to be THAT big."
That was REALLY something. Hey, do you think I could get on it?
"I'll take you someday."
Wow! I'm really looking forward to it!
Let's ride the Airship together, OK? Promise, promise me!
End Flashback
He promised her, but he couldn't keep it now, not now she was gone, killed by Sephiroth. The name itself sparked anger and hate in Cloud, he wanted to finish him, he wanted to get revenge for everything, burning down Nibelheim, killing his mother, killing his love, and for trying to end the planet, and just to become a god and please his so called "Mother". Sephiroth needed to be stopped, and Cloud was going to do it.
But still, if he wanted anyone beside him, he wanted it to be Aeris. He was going crazy, he just wanted to see her once more, to confess his feelings to her, keep his promises to her. But no, it could never be. She wasn't standing beside him, and she never would again.
He sighed loudly, he needed sleep, even though it would be a sleep full of nightmares. He turned and went through the door to his bedroom, and lied down. He closed his eyes, and soon he was asleep.
What do you mean you can't keep your promise?
I'm forever by your side,
Flying with you.
And Cloud suffered no nightmares that night. Nor did he ever again.
