Hey! I don't own any songs or the band mentioned here, I was just in a good writing mood today, and this popped out! It's slightly AU, what would happen if Artemis found out that Roy was a clone in October?
"Broken arrow," Artemis hummed along with her latest favourite song by the Script as she walked into the mountain. She fixed one headphone that was falling out if her ear, and started replaying the song.
She swung her bag onto the sofa cushions, slumping down next to it. The chilly October weather joined Gotham the same day a group of escaped, insane, Arkham criminals did. The Dynamic Duo had their work cut out for them.
The cave was empty, as far as she knew, and she was just planning to relax in the comparatively warm Happy Harbour weather.
"Hey, Replacement," Red Arrow swung onto the armchair opposite her, a can of coke in hand. She growled, he was ruining the song.
"What do you want, Roy?" She sighed, covering her eyes with her hand.
"Ollie told me to look for something we have in common, and unfortunately, he blackmailed me," he spat his old mentors name out, obviously thinking of the photo Ollie was holding against him.
"So?" Artemis glared at him, hearing the song flick to Kaleidoscope, once again by the Script.
"What's your favourite song?" He sighed, asking the question in a robotic voice as though forced to memorize it.
"The Script, Broken Arrow," Roys' face muscles relaxed, eyes becoming dazed behind the mask.
"Roy?" Artemis stood up, shaking the boys shoulder. He was unresponsive, staring into space. She checked his pulse, and made sure he was breathing. On both counts, he was fine.
"C'mon Roy, don't get make me phone Dinah. Damn it, Roy, what's up with you!"
"I am CADMUS clone Roy 4, after 3 failed attempts. I am designed to infiltrate the Justice League, and allow the Light access. I do not know I am a clone, except in this faze," Roy never even showed emotion.
Artemis reeled back, eyes wide at the information just revealed to her.
"Roy, you better be joking."
"I cannot joke in this mode," Artemis stood straight, starting into the whites of his mask.
"Roy, how do I wake you up?" She sighed, surprisingly gently.
"Repeat the phrase," the red head still hadn't moved.
"Urr, broken arrow?"
"What?" Roy stirred, "Artemis, what happened?"
"Roy, there's something you and the League need to know," the female archer sat down.
"What?" Roy pressed, leaning forwards.
"I'm sorry Roy. But you're a bit of a bent arrow."
