The eye sees three colors. The many colors we know come from a combination of those three colors. Red, green, blue.

The higher the wavelength of the color, the more the eye is attracted to it, with red being the highest, blue being the lowest.

That was why his eyes were attached to one Emily Prentiss and her red dress. It was science. The office was full of bland colors – greys, beiges, and blues. Her red dress stood out in deep contrast.

It was only natural that his eye would be attracted.

But it's not only your eyes that are attracted, is it?

Shut up.

Come on, admit you have the hots for one Emily Prentiss. You've had them for years. Since the moment you laid eyes on her.

I'm married to Haley.

No. You're separated from Haley. Any day now she's going to serve you with divorce papers. Your marriage is over. And you know it.

I'm still married.

Only you would make that distinction. She cheated on you. You remember?

Yeah.

Look at her in that red dress, hugging all the right curves. Giving you a glimpse of the beautiful, full, breasts. Tell you don't feel something a little south.

She's a subordinate. It would be inappropriate to think about her in that way.

You're just saying that 'cause you want her under you.

That's entirely inappropriate.

OK, so it is. I'm still right.

No answer? Is that cause you know I'm right? You should invite her to get a drink.

Hotch ignores the voice in his head.

He doesn't look at Emily Prentiss in the beautiful red dress. He can't. One look, and it will all be over. He would never not want to look. Never not want to see.

Thankfully, the next day she wore more appropriate business attire.

They had a case in Fredricksburg, Virginia. The UnSub's M.O. was similar to an unsolved case from twenty years ago.

Now he had something else to focus on other than the charms of one of his agents.

They were back at Quantico, having caught one more killer. Morgan was inviting the team to get a drink. A drink sounded good, but he normally didn't socialize with the team.

Rossi caught up with him, inviting him for that drink. He was about to respond when a clerk handed him a package. He knew what it was without having to look at it.

He couldn't believe she would send it here. To his work.

He pulls out the divorce papers and signs them. (He actually signed a receipt for the served papers; didnt' sign the actual decree until severela episodes later)

"Haley is filing for divorce. I've just been served."

A drink sounded really good now.

Later, after many drinks, he took a look at Emily Prentiss. She had changed out of her work clothes and into something that was definitely not work friendly. She was wearing red again. It was rapidly becoming his favorite color.

Now he could look.

Whether he would have the courage to say anything was another matter.

But for now he could look.

And that was enough.
