"Hey Adam," Fiona said, making the younger boy stop walking. He turned to see her looking at him, she stared at him.
"Um, hey" he said, looking down at his shoes. Fiona took a step towards him and frowned.
"I heard you have a crush, when can I meet the lucky girl?" she asked, lifting his head up and examining his expression. She couldn't read him, he was being difficult.
"Um, well. Do you happen to have a mirror?" Adam asked, looking into her eyes and running his fingers through his hair.
This made Fiona frustrated, but she giggled before speaking again, "Don't change the subject with a silly question like that!" she watched him play with his hair nervously and he grabbed her hand.
"Fine, I'll take you to her," he said and grabbed her hand "close your eyes." Fiona closed her eyes and covered them with her free hand as Adam led her to the bathroom. He checked to make sure no teachers were around before walking in and locking the door.
"Where are we?" Fiona asked as Adam positioned her in front of the bathroom mirror.
"Open them." He whispered in her ear before stepping away from her.
Fiona opened her eyes, but kept her hand over them "I don't want to meet her anymore, she may not like me." she told Adam, frowning. Adam sighed and walked back over to her, moving her hand away from her face.
"She'll love you, because she is you" he whispered again, looking at her in the mirror. Her eyes sparkled at him and she blushed.
"Are you telling me the truth?" Fiona mumbled, stepping away from the mirror and looking down.
The boy was confused; he was always honest with Fiona, why would she think he was lying about liking her? "Why would I lie about liking a beautiful girl like you? You're amazing in more ways than one." He told her and lifted her head up.
"Because maybe you knew I liked you too" she mumbled again. They looked deeply into each other's eyes and Adam leaned closer to her slowly, soon Fiona closed the distance between their lips. They kissed for a few long seconds before Fiona pulled away and frowned again. "We should go, or we'll get in trouble." She whispered and turned for the door, but Adam stopped her.
"There's something else you should know." Adam said, tightening his grip on her. Fiona frowned at him and he let her go. "Fiona, I'm transgender." He added, turning away from her and waiting for the noise of the door opening but instead got surprised by Fiona grabbing him by his waist and pulling him into a hug.
"I love you Adam and I have for a while. You being a little different won't change that," she promised, leaning her head on his shoulder before he pulled away.
"You love me?" he asked, looking into her eyes again. There was something about those words that he admired. Maybe it was the fact that the girl of his dreams was speaking them. Fiona just nodded and kissed his cheek.
"I should get to class." Fiona mumbled and dropped her arms to her side, turning for the door again. She stopped and waved at Adam before leaving.
Adam waited a few minutes and then ran out of the bathroom, to his English class.
