He had stopped work a long time ago and sat looking at the lovely holiday that at the moment was staring a hole into some data sheets she had collected. her frown was hard on her face and she didn't seem to be actually be taking in anything, eyes bleary she was wrapped far too tightly in her thoughts. he mentally sighed, she had been in a bad state for a week, getting progressively worse in mood as the days went by. Little did she know, six knew her inside out, he paid attention to all the little things that she did, her little quirks and habits, like the fact she tended to bite her lip when concentrating, or that she liked her tea white. At the moment though she was currently beating herself up rather harshly since one of the new alternatives for 'the cure' had failed, forcing them to start from scratch. The self doubt started, then the guilt for the fact she hadn't cured her sister yet, and the anger at herself and the world that it had worked started to darken her thoughts, being repeated over and over in her head, the guilt, anger and doubt getting stronger. the fact she visited her sister in the hole (against his advice) didn't help matters either. he could see it all happening, she managed to hide it quite well from the other oblivious fools, but he knew. and yet, he wasn't doing anything about it.

emerging from his thoughts he looked back at the doctor who was still looking at the same data sheet, probably thinking things like 'I'm not good enough'. her body sagged with tiredness, darkness appearing under her eyes, she was probably losing sleep as well. her groaned getting up from the desk, god dammit, he was going to have to do something, he couldn't bear to see her like this any longer.

He swiftly walked over to holiday who hadn't noticed his presence.

"Holiday, stand up" Six said authoritively

Holiday quickly put the mask of 'everything's fine, don't worry about me on' and stood up smiling a little too much at six

"Hello six, is there anything I ca-"

Six embraced her, cutting of holidays train of thought. holiday froze for a moment, her brain managing enough to process the fact that six was hugging her and she should do something. instinctively she hugged him, a warmth spreading through her body as she rested her head against his chest.

it was over as quickly as it had begun. six pulled back and straightened up.

"Rebecca, I know that you're not ok, I know how your feeling. stop beating yourself up. your are the brightest, toughest, stubbornness person I know. you will find a cure, I know it. this was just a setback, even if you have 3 PHD's your still human and your still allowed to not be perfect. losing sleep won't help, you will only make mistakes. if you need to beat something up go take it out on a punching bag, not yourself." he was just about to say 'you're too precious to lose' but kept it back "Everything's going to be alright in the end, and if it's not alright, it's not the end"

he looked at her hoping some of it helped before stiffening up again. he mentally pulled up the mental barrier between them and swiftly left. he seemed to be lowering his guard around her often lately. that was dangerous.

she sat down again still in shock, looking at the door six walked out of processing what just happened. she slowly turned back to her work, a smile forming on her lips her mood brightening. maybe things weren't so bad.
