The skies were splayed with color as the sun peeked over the horizon, beginning its daily daunting task. A gentle breeze drifted by, early bird cries echoed across the barren valley. Footsteps in the rough sand and rock terrain lead to the middle of the gorge, two figures stood at hand, conversing under an astonishing statue that rested there. The possessor of the footsteps held a large smooth gourd at his side, red hair danced in the wind as a playful gust blew by. The kanji for 'Love' was on his temple; his eyes had a strange look to them.
"I've changed since I saw you last…it's been so many years since then." He spoke with the black haired figure; his voice was raspy; almost pained.
"It really has been awhile hasn't it? ..." She trailed off as a raven glided down and perched on the statue besides them. His gaze was still on her as she lifted her hand from her side and coaxed the bird onto her hand.
"Will you help me..?" He asked.
"Help you?" She questioned further, releasing the bird into the air.
"Help me…help someone-" He coughed; circles were visible under his eyes. Slowly he leaned forward just slightly; then collapsed, his eyes closed; the gourd he leaned on fell to the ground with a dull thud. Just as he fell, she caught him in her arms, holding him up. Sighing she hefted the gourd onto her back; still holding him up she lifted him sideways into her arms.
"Gaara…" She whispered as she took him away, the only witness to the meeting; minus one bird and one statue.
