Is war really that bad? Chapter 1.

Summary: one week. That's all it took for Ponyboy to find out his answer. Find out what happens in his adventures in the Vietnam War! Also the whole gang is alive.

3rd person P.O.V

The gang was all at the Curtis house on May 6 watching Mickey mouse, playing poker, and smoking cancer sticks. Darrel Curtis went outside to retrieve the mail. He came in the house with a bundle of envelopes. He tossed them on the table and sat down his recliner. Ponyboy was the one who always separates the mail into 3 piles. One pile was for Soda, the second pile for Darry and the third pile for himself.

Pony boy was putting the bills in Darry's pile until he saw a creamy colored envelope addressed to him. The address on the envelope was a stamp and it said: U.S. Army. Hmmm he wondered. Why would the army be sending him mail? He thought for a moment then realized it was his draft letter.

"Um guys?" he asked panic was definitely identified in his voice. Darry and Soda probably noticed this and looked at him concerned.

"Ya Pone?" Soda asked gently.

"I-I think I'm going to Vietnam." He stated simply.

"W-what are you t-talking ab-bout little horse?" Two-bit stuttered obviously drunk

"Here look," he said passing the letter to the gang, "I have to report for duty on Wednesday."
