One day, I was getting annoyed by how much of a Mary-Sue my Justice League OC was turning out to be. Erin and I were talking about all that was wrong with her when I decided to pull out a sheet of paper.

"Alright, let's just make a list."

Erin pulled out a pencil and wrote across the top:

Mary-Sue Checklist by: Erin, + Sarah

has more than 2 love interests.

I narrowed my eyes. I had just been talking to her about how my X-men OC had been in a relationship with Angel before leaving the X-men, and that he wasn't even a viable love interest for her anymore

"Erin, I told you! Angel. Doesn't. Count."
She just laughed, the evil bitch.

is super-powerful or extremely weak and has to be saved repeatedly by said love interest.

I immediately followed with,

or repeatedly saves said l.i.

Gets away with everything.

Wears clothes that no good character would ever wear into battle

is so powerful or "awesome" that it is practically impossible to relate to said character.

Goes to all the parties and drinks, but never gets drunk...

or does get drunk, but never gets any signs of a hangover.

gets drunk but never does anything stupid that is considered incredibly funny :D

"You have a sick sense of humor."

"Thank you," she smiled.

Before I had time to carefully reevaluate my friendships, she added another point to the list

smokes or does drugs but has none of the bad affects (besides addiction)

has been raped

has been abused (by family or significant other)

is super emo or super preppy

is the better at something than most human beings (including super-heros. Because superman is the strongest, the Flash is the fastest, etc., etc.)

is never defeated. EVER

Only loses to their rival.

I sighed,before turning to her,

" I have one, but I don't know how to phrase it. It's like...let's go AU. Sakura and Sasuke are besties. But the OC and Sakura hate each other so the OC manages to make Sasuke go 'Wow Mary, I never saw how much of a bitch Sakura was.'"

I scribbled down:

their l.i. Hate his best friend because she doesn't like his b.f.f.

With that bell rang. I gestured to Lia, who was behind us.

"Hey, maybe she has a few more?"

Erin agreed, and handed Lia the paper, telling her to add her name.

-fast forward through math class-

With us having to go to elective I descended the stair and headed to Yearbook. Lia stopped me, handing back the paper.

"Here. I added a few more."

Sitting down at my desk, I looked it over.

is super rich but really doesn't have to work for it.

Has too many near death moments (i.e. 6 or 9)

Strange colored hair/eyes that they claim are natural (i.e. red, white, orange, pink, etc.)

Having both parents die tragically but they still act happy.

Making people worry over them too much.

Always getting hurt (in accordance with # 22)

Being too bossy and having people do whatever they say.

Randomly crying

I smiled, promising myself to upload it once I got home.

- And so I did! This was boredom at it's finest, but I think we got a few major ones. So let me know what else makes the red flags in your head go up, telling you that an OC is heading to Mary-Sue territory or already there?
