Preface

He'd seen her once before; over a century ago he had tasted those rosy, red lips. He had smelt a waft of her sweet scented locks in the wind. He had chase and vied for her affection. He had memorized every detail of her, from the moment he met her to the moment he lost her.

No other man felt this way; he felt heartbreak even though his heart no longer beat. She was so beautiful, so enticing, and so full of life or so he thought. Time stood still when he was with her, and the more time he spent with Katherine, the deeper he fell in love. But now here he was watching her, the one who had a longing need to know.

She looked like her, her voice brought sweet music and comfort to his ears. She was so like Katherine in many ways yet still her complete opposite. She had a sweetness, a tenderness and an innocence he had never seen nor know with Katherine. He hadn't ever wanted to come back to Mystic Falls, but something drew him back, something greater than him, now as he stood there watching her talking to her friends, he finally understood what brought him back.
