A/N: After Eliot was talking to Nate, Nate was shooting the glasses. Just to make things clearer...in this story Sophie's standing right there and well I don't want to ruin it for you ;) I don't own Leverage by the way :(

Glass in your back

Sophie felt the scream get stuck in her throat. She turned around to look at Nate.

"What is wrong with you?" Her voice cracked

"Sophie I'm soooo sorry the glass wasn't supposed to react like that" Nates voice was soothing

"Just get Eliot" She breathed tears falling down her face. The blood flowed freely down her back soaking her shirt and jacket. Sophie looked back to see Nate and Eliot rushing back with the first aid kit.

"What in the world were you thinking" Sophie glared at him

Nate choked on his words. "Soph...I'm sorry...I didn't mean too...it just exploded"

"You got a pretty big chunk in your should which means I'll have to stitch you up" Eliot shot Nate a glare

"Can you get it out?" Sophie asked nervously. Nate started to help her get her jacket off.

"Yeah this is going to hurt" Eliot pulled at the little part sticking out of her shoulder. She clenched her eyes shut, teeth gritting in pain. "Got it!" the piece was probably an inch long and 2 inches wide, pointy, and razor sharp. Sophie let out the breath she had been holding in.

"Soph" Nate murmured holding splint her upright

"Why?" Was all she managed

"I'll talk about it later. Let's just focus on getting the glass out of your back" Nate nodded at Eliot who continued pulling out the glass. Every few pieces Sophie would let out a sob and slump into his arms.

"I'm gonna have to clean the cuts with some rubbing alcohol, I'll stitch you up and then a little bit of peroxide to help it heal. You won't be able to do much for the next day or so" Eliot grabbed the bottle and a rag. Sophie nodded her head. She bit into Nates arm when the alcohol came in contact with the open wounds.

"Sophie please stop biting me" Nate hissed

She released the pressure on his arm and clenched her teeth instead.

"You're doing great Sophie now I just have to do the stitches in you back."

Sophie braced herself as Eliot stitched up the cut. It wasn't a very pleasant experience considering she didn't get anything to help numb the pain.

"The peroxide might sting a bit" Eliot warned and she just nodded again. It didn't hurt to her surprise but it freaked her of that she could feel it bubbling. Eliot grabbed a damp rag and wiped her back off so he peroxide wouldn't damage her skin.

"Thanks Eliot" Sophie breathed. She was pale and shaking slightly but still managed to stay up.

"Here I'll get you to bed" Nate held her hand gently. She nodded and followed him, wincing at the pain in her back. He eased her down on the air mattress and sat down next to her. Nate opened his mouth to apologize but Sophie cut him short.

"Don't apologize Nate, I know this is hard for you and it was an accident"

"You have no idea Soph. It's like this curtain of red over my self-conscious, all this anger and pain" Nates whispered

"Nate if you need me, I'm here for you" Sophie laid her head on his chest

"I'm scared" Nate whispered into her hair.

Sophie felt her breath get caught in her throat. "Why are you scared?"

"He tried to kill me twice, he killed my father. I don't want to die" Nate felt tears threatening to fall

"Nate, love, don't cry." She looked up at him wiping a stray tear from his cheek with her thumb.

"No, no, I won't cry" Nate shook his head his eyes shut. But he couldn't help from crying silently though. Sophie pulled him into her arms comforting him. Nate finally drifted off to sleep his head resting in the crook of her neck. Sometimes their roles were reversed. Sometimes she would play the comforting mother, helping the wounded child.
