Hey everyone. This drabble was written for September Event: Back to School. I used the prompt 27. Hogwarts Quidditch Pitch. I can see this actually being what Oliver Wood does on Game days. Can't you? So without further ado here is Game Day Jitters.

Game days are always exciting for Oliver. Especially this game. He's been looking forward to wiping the smug smirk off Marcus Flint's face since the two of them had started their little rivalry back in second year. And today is the day that Oliver finally accomplishes that mission.

An electric feeling takes over him waking him from a deep sleep. He looks around to see all the other boys in his dorm room still asleep. Sighing he quietly gets out of bed tiptoeing to the door. He has to make plans for the game before he showers. He opens the door slowly and he hears someone grumble about being quiet.

"Sorry," he whispers back before slipping from the room.

He goes down to sit in the common room and think for a bit but the plans don't come to him. He thinks a shower will help the plans form for him and goes and takes. But the plans don't come yet and the others are now awake.

"Wood," someone calls out to him, "you going to get us a win today?"

"Of course," he says all bravado. He knows they probably won't win their game. They haven't won a game the entire time he's been on the team. As he walks down to breakfast he then remembers today is Harry's first Quidditch game. Perhaps he should prepare the boy a little more for the game but before he can go over to speak to Harry Katie Bell takes his hand drags him over to sit with her.

"Look nervous, Oliver," she states bluntly. "Why don't you relax?"

"I can't relax, Katie," he tells her. "I'm the captain I need to come up with a plan to ensure that we win."

She shakes her head going back to her breakfast. It's then that he realizes that none of them believe that Gryffindor has a chance of winning this game. He looks over at Harry and see the younger boy looks just as nervous as he does.

Standing up he can think of no other place he wants to be than the Quidditch pitch. He brushes off Katie's concerned hand as she tries to keep him there and leaves the Great Hall. Making his way towards the pitch a plan finally comes to mind and he can't wait to share it with his team. But first he needs to relax.

Taking his broom in hand as he walks onto the Hogwarts Quidditch Pitch he finally allows himself to relax. This is his home. This is where he is at peace. And this is where he'll finally win.

I hope you all enjoyed Game Day Jitters.
