There was nothing else he could do. Clint told himself Loki would answer for his crimes on Asgard, and that justice would be served. But still his trigger finger was itching to put a bolt straight though the miserable excuse for a God's heart. He tensed when Thor released his hold momentarily on the prisoner to take the Tesseract from Dr. Selvig. All he needed was an excuse. One little twitch out of line from Loki and it would be the villain's last mistake.
It was imperceptible to all in the group save one. Natasha knew what this must be doing to Barton, seeing Loki leave with no real reassurance that the criminally insane demi-god would get what was coming to him. She leaned forward slightly and put her lips to her comrade's ear.
"I give it five minutes before he's someone's bitch in Asgardian prison." She whispered, sighing with relief when her jibe managed to win a smirk from her fellow assassin. He relaxed, if marginally. She squeezed Clint's arm reassuringly and stepped back to watch the pair of Asgardians vanish in a flare of blue energy.
