He didn't want to. No. But there would be more casualties if they didn't. The dead were holding them back, not just weight wise either. Mentally to. Levi turned around and stared at the two soldiers who were in the wagon with them. "Drop the bodies!" It wasn't a shout, but a firm command he didn't want to set out, but the titans were approaching and they had already shrunk in size gradually. Loosing anymore would have bad end results. Deep inside, he knew she would be one of them.
The beautiful, orange head girl. The girl who showed everyone kindness and compassion. The one who followed him without question. The young women he fell in love with. The women he couldn't protect. The one women, the very kind young women, that he wanted to cry for, but didn't.
He turned back, only once. And it was with that glance that he saw her body fall, the cloth uncovering her face. Her bloodied face. The one that will leave scars on him forever. The one that will infuse itself into memories that he'll never forget. Ones that haunt him at night and make him into the man he was now. But watching her body fall, he wished he would've fallen with it. He wished he would've died right beside her besides leaving. But he put trust in the squad that they would make it out. And they didn't. They didn't make it. All of them had been killed by the female titan. His love was one of them.
Her eyes, filled with such kindness it could melt any winter were storm. Her hair that shone fiery red in the sun and a cool orange in the dim light. Her small body pressed against his. Everything about her, Levi remembered. Her smile. Her eyes and how they danced with determination and will to fight alongside him
All of this showed up in his mind as he watched her body tumble to the ground, her cloth unraveling, showing her red blood that would leave scars on him forever. He couldn't save her. He couldn't save the person he loved dearly. The one person he would cry days over. The one person he would never forget.
The one person who's red blood, would leave scars in him.
