Big Night at the Buy More

Author: Tohonomike

Chuck belongs to NBC and created by Chris Fedak and Josh Schwartz. Joss Whedon/Mutant Enemy own BTVs. The actress in Chuck played a Potential in Chosen, and so, I write this short story.

Big Mike was schmoozing the corporate HR guy as he left the store. The manager still didn't know about Chuck's refusal to show up for an interview. Tang was a definite wienie but policy had to be followed. It was night and they'd reached the car when everything changed.

Xander was in town to check up on one of his favorite Slayers—one who after training decided to have fun for a couple years and only show up for thrice annual train-a-thons to keep her skills up. 'Babes' as only he was allowed to call her after saving her from two supervamps at the closing of the Sunnydale Hellmouth, has reported strange goings-on, and an increase in vamp activity.

Xander was talking to his Asian-American friend in the parking lot; she held down a low-end job at the Buy More that gave her some extra spending money. He joked a bit with her about the four slime demons and the eight vamps her and the response team had obliterated the night before. Xander didn't usually get into the field much these last few years, but he'd been in San Diego when she'd called him on his direct cell number.

They watched as two vampires stalked tow clueless types leaving the store.

"Hey Babes? You might have some explaining to do?" Xander said as he looked over her shoulder. She turned around.

"Crap. Be right back."

She ran over to where the vamps had the two men on the ground. The Slayer quickly moved in and dusted both bloodsuckers. Big Mike fainted, but the corporate HR guy just babbled a moment, and when standing asked what he could do to thank her. She looked at him, and decided he wouldn't do for what she wanted right now. She sighed.

"Chuck gets the assistant manager spot, and you forget all of this."

"But he didn't interview."

She stared at the dust he was brushing off.

"You have his address and phone number?"

"Yeah."

"Go interview him. Tell everyone he did REALLY well on a phone interview. That's how you thank me." She turned to Xander, "I NEED three double cheeseburgers, double cheese fries and two large milkshakes. NOW. Unless you and Buffy broke up?"

"Still together."

"Food it is," she smiled. She turned to the corporate dude. "Chuck. Assistant Manager."

"Okay."

"Come on, Slay Princess. Let's get you fed."

"Now you're sure? You looking good right now, Harris."

Xander shook his head.

"I'm sure. I'll need a cold shower, but I'm sure."
