A single, haunting melody trickled downwards through the ceiling cracks.

It passed easily through the damaged plaster, traveling downwards and filling the old house with a strange tune.

As it echoed eerily through the empty halls, Shawn couldn't help but shiver.

It was unlike anything else he'd ever heard.

It was as if the music itself was alive; the very notes seemed to carry a strange sense of tangibility.

But that couldn't be right, could it?

He scoffed, shaking his head at the thought.

Though as much as he would've liked to deny it, he just couldn't shake the intense feeling of foreboding.

He realized with a start that the music had picked up, growing faster and much more... sinister.

The atmosphere, once gloomy and decrepit, had quickly become oppressive and absolutely suffocating.

The music seemed to grow even faster, and he gasped for breath; the air had literally become too thick to breathe.

He tried get away, to call out; but he couldn't.

There just wasn't enough air.

His vision began to swim, and as the darkness overtook him he noted, vaguely, that the last thing he'd ever hear was music...
