OK, so this is just a One-Shot where Yuusei, Aki, Rua, and Ruka decided to play a prank on Jack and Crow. No lovey-dovey in this one. Just what the team does when they're bored.
-EDIT- Went a revised a little. LOL I sucked so bad a year (I think?) ago XD. Now rated K+ for light cussing. Same thing as before, pretty much, just with better detail and dialogue. Also, screw dub names, I know better now.
"You punch like a girl!"
"Shut up!"
"Make me!"
"Come on, man, hit me!"
"Fine!"
There was a sharp thud and Crow lied sprawled on the floor, Jack towering above him menacingly. The blonde's arms were crossed over his chest as eyes of fire ignited and burned up a fury.
"You told me to hit you," he said smugly.
"Did not!" Crow shouted, voice nearly cracking, and shuffled his feet, rubbing his cheek. "You're going down, Atlas!"
"So what did they do this time?" Aki sighed, making her way down the stairs of the guys' garage where they were currently crashing. She walked over to the cheap couch where Yuusei was sitting with his legs folded casually, enjoying the show. He was wearing his trademark dark jeans, boots, and black-and-red t-shirt. His jacket was hanging on a hook nearby, next to the others'.
He looked up and smiled at her slightly. "Ah, Aki. It's been a while. Don't mind them. Crow broke the coffee maker and spilled Jack's only cup and Jack scratched Crow's D-Wheel, so...you get the idea. I think I can fix everything, though I doubt that'll stop this," he motioned with a hand at their little brawl.
She laughed. "Yes, I get it."
She took a seat next to the dark-haired man and they watched, deciding not to get between them. Doing so may have resulted in more than one casualty.
Crow swung at Jack's head, but he managed to duck. Their fights were slowly becoming more violent due to lack of things to do. When they were bored, they argued. When they argued, someone threw a daring punch. When someone threw a daring punch, it broke out into a war. Aki always wondered if this was a Satellite thing, like a habit, but then she remembered that Yuusei almost never got involved in this sort of thing unless someone was truly in danger.
"See?" Jack skillfully dodged again. "You punch like a girl!"
"Jack!" Aki scowled disapprovingly, genuinely offended, and he shrugged at her almost apologetically. While he was distracted Crow slammed him in the gut with clenched knuckles mercilessly.
"Hah!" he laughed, satisfied. "Distraction his lethal, 'Pretty Boy'. I thought you were better than this."
Jack glared at him, the fire growing stronger, brighter, hotter. "You're just jealous of my good looks while you've got a broom on your head."
"You bastard-"
"Hi, everyone," Ruka interrupted timidly, appearing at the door she'd so quietly opened. "What's going on?"
"Are Jack and Crow fighting again?" Rua demanded, scampering ungracefully inside with his fists balled up, a little too excited to watch two people destroy each other violently.
"What do you think?" Ruka scoffed, her shyness fading once her brother joined her side. She, too, came down the stairs, Rua in close pursuit.
Aki briefly explained the situation to them and they couldn't help but laugh.
"They fight about everything," Rua shook his head like a wise old man. He had rights, after all. He'd officially known Jack and Crow long enough to know that they used their fists as words in almost every case. It was actually pretty ridiculous, even Rua had to admit that.
"Quit...patronizing...me!" Crow seethed through gritted teeth, dodging a couple of well-aimed blows.
"You know..." Everyone except for the two fighting like wild animals peered over at Yuusei. His cobalt eyes were narrowed, like he was planning something. "There's something I'd like to try."
They waited and he looked at them with a crafty smirk. A smirk that made Aki lift a brow, Ruka frown, and Rua grin from ear to ear.
.
.
Yuusei sat at the scrap-constructed table downstairs, a cup of warm coffee in his hand. He'd fixed the maker last night and was enjoying it until someone maimed it again, which was inevitable in that house.
There was a soft knock at the front door and Yuusei couldn't help but smile to himself.
"It's open," he called up.
Aki opened it slowly, peeking around for signs of the other two, the twins right behind her and equally cautious. Seeing that only the Dragon Head was in sight, they dropped their defenses.
"Did you do it?" Rua asked excitedly, stepping forward a little in anticipation.
Yuusei smirked that smirk of his. "Of course."
"You know if they find out it was you, you're so dead," the younger boy warned, attempting to be serious but too anxious to completely calm down.
"I know," he chuckled in reply. "Have a seat, they'll be awake soon enough."
Aki sat - hesitantly - next to Yuusei at the table and the twins claimed the couch. They didn't have to wait long.
"FUDOU YUUSEI! GET THE HELL UP HERE!"
It was Jack. Obviously.
Yuusei just smiled. He was doing that a lot lately... "Sorry Jack! I'm entertaining our guests!" Not a lie. "You come down here if it's that important!"
Aki tried her best to force down a giggle. She was the one who had managed to get her hands on one of Crow's handcuffs. After all, he was a cop as of recently. Yuusei had done the rest.
This time it was Crow causing a ruckus. "WHAT DID YOU DO, JACK?!"
"I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING, DAMNIT!"
"THEN EXPLAIN THIS!"
The four downstairs desperately tried not to break out laughing. Their plan had been completely successful.
They moved to look up at the source of an angry growl. Jack was marching down the stairs, dragging poor Crow behind him. He stopped and planted himself in the center of the room. "Someone want to explain this?"
He roughly held up his left arm for display, a pair of handcuffs clamped to his wrist.
"Ow, Jack!" Crow snapped. The taller man was going to pull his arm out of its socket. Painfully. His right hand was also trapped in cuffs, the same ones as Jack.
They were stuck together.
"What did you two get yourselves into last night?" Yuusei sounded genuinely amazed and worried, like he had nothing to do with it whatsoever.
"What?!" Crow practically screeched the word. "You mean you don't know about this?"
"Of course he does," Jack accused in a low, intimidating tone of voice. "He's just a good actor."
That much was true, but Yuusei wasn't giving up. "Huh? Wait, Crow are those your handcuffs?"
"Yes!" he shouted, eyes wide and disbelieving. "How they got on us, I don't know! We were even in separate rooms last night and we woke up like this!"
"Not suspicious at all," Rua muttered sarcastically. Jack and Crow glared at him and the boy offered a shrug and and a sheepish smile.
"Well, do you happen to know where the key is, Crow?" Aki asked carefully.
"No! It's not in my bag! I already checked! What did you guys do?"
"We didn't do anything," Ruka 'promised', innocence written all over her cute face. But Yuusei could see the crossed fingers behind her back.
Jack fixed them all with that violet glare of his and proceeded to drag poor Crow into the kitchen.
As soon as they were gone, Yuusei, Aki, Rua, and Ruka turned to each other, still barely keeping quiet. Those two had been arguing so much, they'd decided to give them an excuse to enforce their "brotherly bond" on their day off.
Jack came storming back out minutes later, his free hand holding a fresh cup of coffee, and just stood there, unsure of what to do.
"You couldn't have let me get some, could you?" Crow muttered, pissed off, eyeing his drink.
"You guys can sit here," Aki offered graciously, standing.
Yuusei did, too. "I'll get you some coffee, Crow."
Aki tagged along with Yuusei to the kitchen, probably to discuss their little situation and to tell him where she hid the key to the handcuffs. Jack and Crow awkwardly sat at the table in silence.
Then, "You still think they did it?"
Jack glared at Crow from the corner of his eye. "You really think I know, Genius?"
Rua and Ruka spun away and slapped hands over their mouths, fighting down the urge to crack up.
"What was all of that screaming?"
They froze, peeking up to see a very irritated Zora standing in the gaping doorway, hands resting on her hips. Her hair had gone a tiny bit grayer her attitude hadn't changed an ounce. Yuusei hardly noticed, but to the other guys, this was absolutely pleasant. (...Meaning hell.)
"This!" Jack declared loudly, once again lifting his arm and Crow's to show off their dilemma.
Zora blinked a couple of times, then shook her head. "You boys are always getting into trouble like this."
"Not our fault!" Crow yelled flatly and put his head on his free hand, balancing his elbow on the table in utter defeat.
"Hello, Zora," Yuusei came out and put on his most charming act. An act he'd learned to use only days after moving into the Poppo Time. One that got them all out of her rage many, many times. "What brings you here?"
"Oh, Yuusei," she smiled sweetly, all anger fading from her stress lines in her face. "I'm sure you're not the cause of it, but I heard all of the shouting and came to see what was the matter."
"Everything is fine, ma'am," he assured, bowing ever so slightly. Aki gulped down a chuckle next to him, which didn't go unnoticed by the marked man.
"It is not!" Crow and Jack screamed at the same time.
"Alright," Zora nodded, reassured. "Just don't go blowing something up today." And with that, she slammed the door shut and was gone.
"Nice job, guys," Rua winked at them mischievously. "You got her mad."
"I did not!" they both hollered, then glared at each other with pure animosity.
"You two really need to get along if you're going to be stuck like that," Aki pointed out sympathetically. Or at least, they bought it. "Try not to kill each other, you know?"
"Nope~," Jack mumbled, taking a sip of coffee.
"Here," Yuusei handed Crow a mug and he took it gratefully, offering a small grin.
"Thanks, man." Then he looked at Jack, expression immediately altering to one of thoughtfulness. "I don't think they did it. I think you did this."
"Now why would I ever dream of being handcuffed to you?"
"Oi!"
"I'm only speaking the truth. You're annoying and now I have to bring you everywhere."
"Oh, coming from he who spends 50 bucks on a bag of coffee, can't shut up about himself, scratched my D-Wheel, punched me in the face yesterday-"
"You told me to," Jack cut him off with disinterest in his tone.
"I did not!"
"Yes you did," Ruka smiled innocently.
Aki snaked her hand in her jeans' pocket (casual attire for a dull day) and smirked to herself. She wrapped her slender fingers protectively around the delicate, silver key that was safely in her possession. A silver key which would free them when Yuusei and the others finally wanted them to be free.
But not yet.
Yuusei turned around and met her gaze for a moment. They both grinned for a split second before re-putting on the facade.
How Yuusei had clamped those cuffs around both of the idiots without them knowing while they were asleep in separate rooms was a mystery to everyone but himself. And it would stay that way. He would never tell a soul how he'd done it.
And until they got bored of putting up with Jack and Crow's ranting about being stuck together or they tried to literally murder each other, this prank would stay in progress. It was definitely going to be a interesting Saturday.
And to think this had all started with a shattered cup of coffee.
Hope this at least made you smile:) Please R & R! Thank you!
