Give me a reason to believe that you're gone

Give me a reason to believe that you're gone
I see your shadow so I know they're all wrong
Moonlight on the soft brown earth
It leads me to where you lay
They took you away from me but now I'm taking you home

Cloud held Aerith close to him as a single tear trickled down his icy cold skin. His eyes closed so tight, wishing that it wasn't true. "She can't be gone, she can't!" he cried. His fists clenched, because he knew he had failed to protect her. He was going to make him pay.

I will stay forever here with you
My love
The softly spoken words you gave me
Even in death our love goes on

Silently he stepped down the steps and into the water. He leant down and placed a soft kiss on her lips and whispered "I'll always love you Aerith, I'm sorry I was too late." He held her for a few moments then let her go. She sank elegantly lower, and lower until he could no longer see her.

Some say I'm crazy for my love, Oh my love
But no bonds can hold me from your side, Oh my love
They don't know you can't leave me
They don't hear you singing to me

His head bowed as he made his way back to his companions, he brushed past them and exited the place. Anger flooded through his mind. I'll make him pay! How dare he take her away from me!? Clenched hands gripped his sword as he headed towards the man who had taken her away from him. He swung at him with all his might but no matter how hard he tried he never hit him. Tears streamed down his face, his heart wrenched, he never would be able to defeat him like this. Then he heard her singing to him

"I will stay forever here with you
My love
The softly spoken words you gave me
Even in death our love goes on."

His eyes closed as he heard her, he lifted his sword and took one last swing. It pierced through the heart of the man who had taken her away from him. But his enemy's sword ran straight through him. He collapsed to the floor in pain. He knew this was the end for both of them. When he finally whispered to Aerith "I can't love you anymore than I do." The last ounce of life in him slipped away as he finally was able to be with the women he loved again.

I will die, but real love is forever.
