How Will We Die?
Arthur stared out his window at Camelot. The streets were filled with smoke so thick that the ground was not visible, and the only light to see by was the misty glow of the fires eating away at the people's homes. The smell of sulfur and burning flesh was unbearably strong, and the sound weeping ripped through the air as the people mourned their dead friends and loved ones.
It was the second night of the dragon's attacks since it had escaped from its prison beneath the castle. Already, it had destroyed much of the city and slain many of the innocent people residing within its walls. Arthur had seen it hover over the castle and glare into the King's chamber window before it left when it was finished with its attacks. He knew that the dragon was taking its revenge upon his father for imprisoning it for so long. But why must it kill the innocents of Camelot? Why doesn't it just kill Uther? Why must so many suffer for the vengeance of a single creature and the wrongs of just one man? Was it all to end like this? Would every citizen of Camelot burn in the flames of the dragon's rage?
Perhaps the men across the water, the men who believed in only one God, were right.
Perhaps the world would end in fire.
I hope that was okay, and that the mention of God wasn't offensive to anyone. It is actually historically accurate that Christ followers were predicting that upon the return of Jesus, the earth would be consumed by fire. And historical accuracy is something that I really could not live without. That's why the Disney Pocahontas movie drives me bananas! Please review and let me know what you think! Thanks!
