"I think I may finally have something," Zelenka said. He proceeded to explain how he had rigged the Dart to do what they needed down.
"Mmm. Great. Good thing. Can we, just, see it?" Rodney said nervously.
Weir caught his eye. "Anxious?"
"Yes," Rodney responded, averting his gaze from Elizabeth's piercing green eyes. At the same time, he ignored the thrill that went through him at Elizabeth's concern.
"Whoa!" Cadman exclaimed inside his head. "Hold the phones. What was that?"
Before Rodney could respond to this inexplicable exclamation from the woman in his head, Zelenka had started the experiment. Momentarily distracted, Rodney watched in horror as the test mice rematerialized black and smoldering.
"This is never gonna end! I'm gonna be stuck like this – forever!" Rodney lamented.
"So why are you even dating Katie?" Cadman asked.
"Look, just because you think I'm completely incompetent with woman—" Rodney started acerbically.
"No, I mean, what's the point in dating Katie when you are obviously infatuated with Dr. Weir," Cadman said with a shrug in her voice.
Rodney choked. "What!" he practically shrieked, startling several scientists in the corridor. "I am not!"
Cadman reminded him in a singsong voice, "In your he-ad."
